"I think I'm going to train my curse," you say.
"Very well. Meet back here in two weeks," he says. His face disappears, and you're back seeing the purple tent. You walk out and see the lieutenant waiting for you.
"Need any help?" he politely asks.
"Nah, thanks though. This is something I have to do on my own," you explain. He nods in understanding, and you continue to your training ground.
After two weeks of excruciating transforming and detransformations, you think you're one step towards mastering the procedure. It doesn't hurt nearly as much now, and you can recover with only a night's rest. You make your way back to the Wolf God.
"You've returned. Allow me to further explain your mission in further detail. Deep underground this Den, there is a gateway to the Spiritual Realm. The glowing water you see comes from that gateway... it's been losing its properties since the path was sealed. We, and the world, need you to open that gateway, Mercer. Opening it will allow natural energy to flow openly again," he solemnly explains.
"And this will stop the rot of the world?" you ask.
"Unfortunately, no. This gateway is only but one of nine scattered throughout the world. The long-term goal is for you to open them all, fully restoring the flow of chakra. But, clearing this one is a start," he says.
You think that's an awful lot of gates to open.
"The lieutenant will show you the path leading to the gate," he further explains. You start to walk away.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Take this," he cheerfully says. The grass grows in front of you, and combine to form a flower, which blooms in brilliant yellow petals, to reveal a trinket inside. "That trinket will allow me to communicate with you from long distances. It takes a lot of energy to do that, so we'll have to keep it brief," he explains. "It's also been given my blessing. It'll increase your swiftness to more match a wolf's," he says. You bow and thank him for the gift, and continue out. Once again, the lieutenant waits for you outside the Wolf God's throne room.
"Let's go," he says.
You stand before a large cave entrance. The walls are covered in green glowing rocks, providing light for you. You can tell it's a long way down...
"Mercer, you should hear this. We think there may be intruders here in the Den," he blurts.
"What!? Who or what could manage to sneak in a Den inhabited by giant wolves?" you question.
"I honestly don't know. But... if I had to guess, the intruders are human. We were worried about this, brother. The Wolf God asked you to destroy your old village because he was afraid they may give our Den's location out. Looks like they already did," he explains.
You're speechless. The entire point of your mission-to protect your new home by brutally killing your old one-was a failure. It failed before you even began.
"I know this is incredibly difficult for you, but I want you to be careful. Whoever managed to elude our detection must be powerful, and more dangerously, intelligent and knowledgeable enough to pull it off. The world's at stake, brother. You can't fail this," he encourages.
A small sigh comes out of your mouth. After a few seconds of silence, you look up at him and smile.
"I'm not going to fail this. We're going to save this world, lieutenant," you say. His resolve visually improves, and you enter the cave.
You travel for what seems like hours. The tunnel has looked the same entire time... no changes in height or width, a perfectly circular path underground.
The sound of footsteps are behind you...
Turning around, you see three humans. The one in the front is a grey haired elderly man, adorned in black knight's armor. His gray beard reaches his chest. The ones behind him are a much younger man and woman.
"Howdy," the old man speaks. "I'm looking for a Wolf God. You see any?" he asks.
Clutch Moment
A) Ask him who they are.
B) Screw talking, activate your arm.
C) Attempt to run.
D) Say they can talk to the Wolf God right now through your trinket.
