Okay, I think enough time has passed since the last poll to conduct this one. I (very recently) thought of a bunch of potential settings for this cyoa. Now, the settings are rather broad, and thus the antagonists may change depending on things. But it seems the perpetrators are going to be parasitic nasties, which is vague as hell. And I love it that way, because they can work with damn near everything that was voted on.
As for the settings themselves, I'll post a little description of what it will entail and a few examples of what I'm thinking about, as well as the likely antagonists (besides parasitic nasties, who are in by default). Feel free to offer suggestions and things.
High Fantasy:
A fantastical world filled with many kinds of creatures, magic, and other civilized races.
-Examples: Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons.
-Antagonists: Demons or Lovecraftian Whatsists work best here.
Sword and Sorcery:
I'm probably using this term wrong, which is why I have you read things before voting <_<. I'm thinking with this a medieval setting with many monsters but just a little bit of magic in some way.
-Examples: Castlevania, Claymore.
-Antagonists: Lots could work here-- psychological shit, demons, lovecraftian things, zombies, mutants.
Medieval Era Europe:
All of the dark age technology and ideas without all of the monsters and magic! Oh wait, there be monsters here.
-Examples: Uh... this is kind of obvious.
-Antagonists: Psychological shit, zombies, demons, mutants.
Feudal Japan/Eastern Asia:
For those wanting an oriental feel. A bit o' magic.
-Examples: (ugh) Inuyasha, Ruroni Kenshin, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Samurai Jack (without all of that future stuff <_<), Legend of the Five Rings.
-Antagonists: Demons, mutants, psychological shit.
Contemporary:
Our World. Pretty self-explanatory.
-Examples: Look outside.
-Antagonists: Psychological shit and mutants with maybe a pinch of zombies.
Cyberpunk:
Urban setting with lots of technology and robots and shit.
-Examples: Ghost in the Shell, The Matrix (kinda).
-Antagonists: Robots, psychological shit.
Space:
Wonderful technology and you're either on a spaceship or on a colonized planet/moon base or something.
-Examples: Star Wars/Trek, Mass Effect, Dead Space, Alien, a lot more.
-Antagonists: Mutants (aliens), robots (maybe), lovecraftian things (maybe), psychological shit (maybe).
Post Apocalyptic:
The world got broke. Fortunately there are still pockets of humanity amidst all of the monsters.
-Examples: Fallout.
-Antagonists: Mutants, zombies.
The other two are yeah. Speaking of two, that's how many choices you can choose. Like I said earlier, I'm open to suggestions and ideas.
And since I have to vote to see the results, I chose contemporary and sword and sorcery. I feel those two work best, since those were the only options I originally considered, but as you can see some thought was put into other ideas. Yeah.
