Resting your head in your right hand, you glance out the room's window. You notice a moderate group of 5, tired looking workers are digging into the ground.
"I hear you've been assigned a pupil, Isamu," you hear a voice outside the door say.
"Yeah, some kid we rescued outside of Suna," you hear your teacher answer.
"Is that so? What's his elemental affinity?" the voice demands.
"Well..." Isamu trails.
"Useless as always. Come on then," the voice sighs.
You never knew a door could open so fast and so violently, but the owner of that voice exploded into the room. With a single backhand stroke he threw open the door at an impossible speed, making a painfully loud crashing noise.
"Hello-" you manage to speak before he pins you to the wall by your throat.
The man strangling you appears to be well-aged and highly respectable looking. His speed is only matched by the size of his enormous white eyebrows, which extend down to his chin. He tilts his head and threateningly glares into your eyes. You see a cold fury locked within his eyes, and you shutter to think how angry he would be in a combat situation. He has pinned you to the wall and starred into your eyes for a good 20 seconds now.
"He..." the old man thoughtfully speaks. "... would do excellent in Earth."
He lets go of you to fall painfully on your bottom. You take in the sweet essence of air once again.
"We could have just used chakra paper, Ebizo," your teacher complains.
Ebizo shoots off a terrifying glare at Isamu. Your teacher doesn't budge.
"You will call me sir!" Ebizo demands, prompting a sigh from Isamu.
"Well kid, you have a strong affinity to earth. Unfortunately for you, I don't have an earth affinity. So, you have two choices. I can teach you the basics of earth style ninjutsu and spend the rest of the time on non-elemental ninjutsu. Or-"
"You can be taught the secrets of earth style from me," Ebizo growls.
"Either way, we'll make sure you learn the basic jutsus like water-walking and tree climbing," Isamu explains.
A. Go with Isamu and spend some time on earth and non-elemental jutsus. B. Go with terrifying Ebizo and focus on your earth ninjutsu training.

I'm with Shadow on this one.. We can't even do Deidara's stuff because that's blast element.
A
I'd rather have great non-elemental ninjutsu then great earth.

Wait, so my vote only counts as one?
You guys lack imagination of you dont think Earth is a badass element. We can't even use Deidara's tech? Of course not... why would we?

1. My imagination is perfectly fine!
2. Giga and I were thinking of some non-elemental techs that we could use so I voted for the option where my ideas could be put to use.
3. Give me 3 original badass earth techs that haven't been mentioned before and I may change my vote.

earth is great for defense and sotu, but neither of these suit our character who uses speed to dodge attacks and sniping. There are some attacks with doton like mud dragon, but it's lackluster offence. Maybe you just like throwing rock cubes at people, I don't get what's so badass about it.

I think Earth element is cool and all, just not all that versatile, hence I voted for both both earth and non-elemental training

Hmm, lets see. Try to convince impatience, ice, or overt that they should switch to B? Never going to happen. Just wait until someone like syco comes in and breaks uo the tie? Maybe, but it might take a while. Just switch to the other vote so we can get this show on the road? Yes.
I switch my vote to A. Luckily, we at least learn the basics.

The thought of training with Ebizo sounds less than pleasant.
"I'd like to learn non-elemental ninjutsu from Isamu," you say.
"Fool!" Ebizo shouts, storming out of the room.
"Don't mind him," Isamu sighs. "Suna has been in a steady decline the past decade, just like his aging body. He even fainted during a battle awhile back!" he laughs. "But he's worried. Worried that Suna may finally fall during this war."
"I'm sorry," you say. You couldn't think of anything else to say, really.
"Don't be. Look, you're an outsider, you don't have to take on Gaara's mission. You can always decline," Isamu compassionately says.
"I'm still deciding if I want to risk my life for Suna," you tell him.
"I honestly don't blame you. But, while you think about Gaara's mission, I have something else you may be able to help with," Isamu grins.
You tilt your head to the side in curiosity. Where's he going with this?
"Lord Gaara is preoccupied with the threat of war right now. He's using every available man to prepare for what now seems like the inevitable. You, however, are not under his jurisdiction. Have you heard of Kirigakure?" he asks.
You scratch your head in thought. "I think... it's a hidden ninja village, to the east of here, right?" you answer.
"Yep. It's the eastern most ninja village, known as Hidden Village in the Mist," he says.
"What about it?" you ask.
"We sent some ambassadors to the village, hoping they'd ally with us in the war. Typically the other village sends ninja to the country border, and escorts the ambassadors to their village. However..." Isamu's expression becomes more serious as he continues. "No ninja came out to escort out ambassadors," he says.
"Perhaps they allied with the enemies?" you reason.
He sighs. "No, I don't think so. During the First Ninja World War, some villages made it a point to kill any foreign ambassadors, delaying the peace talks and dramatically increasing the financial and human cost of the war. After the war, the daimyos unanimously agreed to provide safe entrance into villages for ambassadors through the border escort method. Kiri, it seems, isn't following their daimyo's law," Isamu says.
"What would you have me do, teacher?" you ask.
"I'd like you to go to Kiri yourself and find out what's happening. We're completely blind out there; we don't believe the village has made any contact to the outside world for awhile now," he says.
"Sounds suspicious," you agree. "Will Gaara's mission send me near Kiri?"
"I'm afraid not," Isamu complains. "You'll only have enough time to safely do either mission. After the war starts, I can't send you to Kiri in good conscious," he says.
"I'll think about it," you tell him.
"That's all I ask. Now then; it's training time!" he roars, walking out of the room.
"Why does he always leave me?" you think to yourself. You're back out in the courtyard where you endlessly trained your strength.
He walks into the courtyard carrying a huge stack of scrolls and books in his arms.
"Sorry that took so long," he laughs. "Like I told you, I don't have an affinity to earth. You'll be teaching yourself on that."
He dumps the stack of reading material on a rock. You walk over and finger through an untitled book.
"I'll be leaving Suna for a couple of weeks. If you have any questions..." he begins to trail. "... Well, I was going to tell you to ask Ebizo, but it's best you just wait for me to return," he laughs. With that he disappears in a cloud of smoke before you can say anything. You look down at the huge pile of papers.
"Well, guess I should start," you say.
A. Read general information on doton ninjutsu. B. Skim the books for an offensive technique you could learn. C. Skim the books for a defensive technique you could learn. D. Skim the books for a supplementary technique you could learn.

I was hoping with our special ability, we can do more than one of these with 'skimming' being the equavalent of a normal person reading.
Also are B, C, and D dotons?

I also thought about how many techniques you could learn. I decided one doton, one non-elemental jutsu. From what I read, most ninja take year to learn their elemental jutsus. Learning a jutsu in two week is insane.
