I think it's a bit too early to start with the romance option. I'd rather keep it platonic for right now.
B1 - Slapstick Option.

Sighing you decline his offer, "No... I think I'll just stay home, I'm not really up for it."
"Huh, is that so?" He asks sarcastically, crossing his arms, " Well, you have dinner yet?"
"No, I just got out of bed...Why" Suspicion was in your voice now.
"I'll be right back, don't eat anything okay chief?" He quickly scampers away, leaving you at the door.
"H-hey! Where are you going?" No answer...
--- Taking his advice and foregoing the meal you waited roughly 40 minutes, before a sudden rap and knock on the door. Turning the TV volume down you get up and open up the door still in your seat, just reaching over the couch-side desk.
"Heya chief!" In all his bumbling glory Deneb stumbles in holding a bunch of bags in each hand, each labeled <Q-mart>. "Sorry it took so long, there was a damn guy checking for proof of purchase."
"Oh?"
Making his way to the kitchen he continues complaining, "Seriously, why do they even need to do that?" Now pulling off his gloves and searching through your pantry, "And I swear the bum was stoned! What kinda business are they running! We should bust 'em chief!" Always weird to see him in regular clothing like that black jacket along with that helmet of his...
Letting out a sigh you rest your cheek on the back of your hand, "It'd be your first, wouldn't it?"
"Huh? What are you talking about..." Grabbing a large pot he starts the plasma stove, "I'll make you dinner chief."
"Really?" Actually a first...Seemingly he was always making his own food, maybe this would be nice, interesting at the least. "Sure", you answer sweetly.
"Hey! I like that tone chief!"
"Shut up, you knucklehead..." You grumble...
"Is it going to take a long time?"
"Kinda, I'm going to make something at low heat, so it'll be a little while, but it's worth the wait! I swear!"
"Alright", you sigh.
Having pulled out the dining table for once...you set up the scene rather casually, just grabbing whatever clean utensils you have and pulling out a roll of papertowels.
"Are you ready?! It's done!" He was pouring some sort of white stew into two bowls along with baked bread from the market. "My special variety chowder!"
"Chowder huh?" You grab the spoon as he sets it down, a bit hesitant in taking the first bite. Seafood was getting old...and it didn't look entirely appetizing to begin with.
"Come on Chief, do it. DOOOO IT!" He stops to pull off his helmet....revealing the smaller bubble helmet from the other night.
"You wear two helmets?"
"Kinda." He takes a spoonful and wafts at it with his hands, letting the steam roll away. "Hey chief, you're looking pretty cute tonight."
What the hell was he saying? "Hey, wha-" Out of the blue Deneb shoves the hot spoon into your mouth, the chowder spilling onto your tongue. "Haa! Hot!" You quickly remove the spoon but take a moment to savor the taste before grabbing the water to wash away the burning sensation. "You jackass!" In a fit of rage you kick Deneb's chair from under the table, toppling him.
"It's good though right?" He asks, sounding somewhat distant on the ground.
"..." Letting out a sigh you nod, not like he could see it. Though that was the point, to only admit it secretly. "It's okay..." You add.
"Eh, must've done something wrong." Pulling his chair up Deneb remains standing, "How about some wine chief?"
"You're just going to get drunk again" You remark cuttingly, rolling your eyes condescendingly.
"No way! I learned my lesson after the other night!"

"Forget it... I don't think you can handle it", you snap.
"Alright alright", he concedes, taking his seat again.
Deciding to take the first bite of your own bowl you enjoy the warmth of the chowder, going down a bit roughly. "So what did you do all day?"
"I reported in for work for a while... And then I left."
"R-really?" Even going to work at all was impressive, even if he didn't finish his entire shift... "Did you get there on time?"
"Ah? Yeah..."
"No way", you mutter, letting your spoon drop into the thick stew. "Really?"
"Yea chief...Even I'm reliable from time to time you know..."
"Hah! Yea right!" You rudely shout, belittling his great achievement.
"Hey..."
"Well whatever", you mutter once more, taking another bite of your chowder, this time a spoonful of seafood chunks.
After cleaning up with Deneb you meet him by the door.
"Thanks for the meal."
"No problem Chief", he gives you a jab on the shoulder rather roughly, "We should do this more often!"
"Uh...Sure..." Your voice trails reluctantly.
"So you going to do anything else tonight?"
"It's a bit late isn't it? Why don't you get home bub", Jokingly you tap his helmet a few times.
"Don't be such a bore chief! Let's go shopping or something y'know?"
"Eh..."
"Come on, when was the last time you had free time like this? You're gonna work yourself to death one day! Gotta enjoy your time while you're alive!"
"Ugh..."

Quickly glancing at the clock you could see it was just past 9 now, not too bad...
"Alright, fine, ya got me. Let's go."
"Hah, awesome. Come on," He says, waving you over as he exists.
Grabbing your slate you quickly follow after, locking the door and heading down with him.
Getting out into the street you make for the car but Deneb stops you, tapping your shoulder. "Wait Chief, let's just walk. City life y'know? It's not too far."
"Uhh...alright?" You comply, raising a brow at Deneb. Sometimes he seemed surprisingly down to earth, grounded in a way.
Walking through the residential streets the two of you find yourself headed north towards the market and prime district, Sunburst Plaza was in that direction, a collection of strips of stores.
"So chief, we've been partners for 3 years now right?"
"Umm..." That didn't sound quite right... More like...two. "That's how long we've known each other, we've been partners..." Some dates run through your head, "A little over 2 years?"
"Oh, that's right."
Huh...Two years since you partnered up with Deneb. "It's been a while now..."
"And this is the first time we've ever spent an evening out like this right?"
"I...I don't know, I guess. What's up with you anyway?" You ask curtly, "What's with all the reminiscing?"
"Just... This is kind nice right?"
"..." You slowly nod, a bit unsure of the feeling of the current scenario. "Hey, you really a virgin?"
"I told you I was chief!"
"You're always hanging out with girls though, you couldn't get even one in bed just once?" You tease, rather brutishly, "Looooser."
"Pftbba, hey! I resent that! Like you're one to speak! I bet you'd break the guy's piece off even if you tried Ms. Uptight!"
"Hah! There isn-"
"Oh! They turned the fountain on! Look!" Deneb suddenly breaks off the conversation, pointing at the sky just away. "Cool right? I mean...for just water..."
Ugh, water sure was a tiresome thing... Looking on it didn't look very much like water though, lit up in a plethora of colors. "Yeah...I guess it does..."
"Hmm."
"What is it?"
"I heard there was going to a storm hitting tomorrow."
"R-really?" You stutter, storms were always bad here. Always some degree of flood and terrible winds, even blowing away lighter vehicles and unbolted ornaments or objects. "I hope the refugees will be ok for tomorrow..."
"We got the last bunch settled in today, I handled the last bunch myself actually!"
"Oh, that's..." Huh? He...took care of the... "That's good..."
"Ah, so where do you wanna go first?"
$500 to spare at the moment.

Guns, you can never have a good enough gun. Or little pistol obviously just isn't going to cut it.

"Let's go check out some guns...The service pistol is getting old, they've been issuing the same thing for 20 years..."
"Pft, typical chief. Alright, let's go then", Deneb leads the way to a some sort of warehouse, a gun shop apparently. The front desk being manned by an automated holoscreen, various models and types being shown and described in holographic images being displayed onto mirror surfaces.
"Hmm..." You ponder, looking through them, most of them were old models. Some looked new, and unsurprisingly they were expensive.
"How about this one?" Deneb points at a long rifle, the barrel being almost like that of a long range marksman rifle. "Hey, it has a long bayonet mount." Pressing the <Sample> button a demo model unlocks itself. Picking it up Deneb cradles it and examines it closely, twirling it around a bit in a military fashion, even tossing it up into the air like a baton.
"Hey! It's not a toy Deneb!" You scold.
"Hahaha, come on chief, lighten up..." Re-examining the panel Deneb reads aloud, "A semi automatic rail magnum rifle, designed in NE 122 to... blah blah. I wonder if we can take this the firing range...hmm, 600 credits..."
"Wait a moment," You say, checking other weapons. Plasma bolt, low velocity, high temperatures, not very effective against armored targets... Rail magnums...obviously designed for piercing... High velocity ballistics, typical munitions, not very good for much.

B - 4 clips, although the description of the various guns could be better... What does the statement "High velocity ballistics, typical munitions, not very good for much" apply to? The magnum pistol? And what differentiates the various plasma guns?

The HV ballistics are regular guns like the service pistol. Rail magnums are a newer type. I think I'll write up some sort of weapons guide later.
Pistols are cheaper, shorter range Rifles, expensive, long range Carbines are medium range and automatic weapons (rapid fire)
Plasma has a slow velocity and good against flesh Rail Magnums are good for penetration but not flaying, spread damage/impact
HV Ballistics are just like modern weapons and not very effective against anything in particular but are rounded.
There are more types, just not at this city.

I was thinking about the magnums because I suspect they would have great knockdown power, which I believe would be essential for our character.

Taking a demonstration model of the Rail Magnum Pistol you motion with Deneb to go to the shooting range. "They have live rounds at the range right?"
"Yep", he says, leading the way. "Some of these things must be new, this one's model number is UCM-79, a Union civilian rifle, but the number is new!"
"I didn't know you were into guns, you suck at shooting." You quip, putting on the free noise cancelling muffs and hologlasses. With a tap a dark orange surface appears, acting as the glasses of the shades. "Well, let's start." Popping the ringed cylinder open you load the spare magnum rounds stacked at the range. For convenience they were placed on a speed loader. Tapping the <Start> button several targets come up, and with expert aim you send two round through the body and head respectively. "Armored" you command the range computer, promptly two new armored targets pop up. Once again taking aim you send down the last 3 rounds, watching them easily penetrate the armor, though it doesn't look like there was very strong impact. Probably more than plasma...but less than the typical High Velocity Ballistics. These magnum rounds were made more for puncturing than anything... Still, a good test, and a fine weapon.
Seeing Deneb was done you remove the gear and unload the shells, letting them pop out when you open up the revolver style pistol. "How is it?" You take a look and see he only hit the target once...
"Eh, could be better hahaha", he titters, rubbing the back of his helmet. "What about you chief? Like the gun?"
"Yeah...I think I'll get it."
"Ah, sure."
Returning to the front stock area you return to the counter to put in an order for the Rail Magnum pistol. "It's really a revolver isn't it", you rhetorically remark, pulling out your slate to authorize the order. 500 credits for a preloaded magnum and 25 credits per clip of 5. "Ah...shoot..."
"You short some chief? I gotcha covered for the extra ammo, in fact..." Bumping you at the hips he pushes you aside to get a view of your slate on the register slot, tapping in a order for 4 extra clips. "Don't worry about it chief", he says, pulling out his own slate to transfer the payment. 400 credits on his balance.
"You don't have much do you? You sure?"
"Yea, yeah." He hits the order confirmation button on your slate, putting in the order.
Suddenly the computer announces, [[Notice, notice: Police Officer identified, security class upgrade authorized]]
"H-hey, what's that?" You ask
"Security class...that's like the military version I guess? I wonder what's different."
[[Order will be ready in TWO hours]], the computer announces.
"Guess we could come back in the morning you suggest", punching his shoulder you thank you him, "Thanks though, appreciate it."
"Hah, playful today chief?"
"Well, you did it too", you retort, referring to the shoulder tap.
"We don't have to go yet you know, we could stop somewhere else..."
"I'm broke right now...I'd have to buy on credit and I'm not going to violate my savings you know..."
"Don't worry, I got it covered."
