You lift the girl up in your arms. Trying to avoid putting too much pressure on her side by say...tossing her over the shoulder like you're some god-king warrior god. But it's time to move on. The fireball jutsu you used to burn the corpses left the entire area scorched, nothing but dust in the wind now. For what it was worth...even low-level fire jutsu like that were pretty useful. Too bad your affinity was to earth, having better control over the fire element could have been cool, hmm.
You decide to stay on the ground, too tired to go up to the trees and start jumping around with this girl. Besides, perhaps there would be a nice cave coming up to stop at. You walk for a while, finding nothing as of yet. Tired and hurting, your stride turns to a shuffle. Your priso-hmm. The capturee is still unconscious, though the last of her droll dried up ages ago. Ages? Was that right. It seemed that the moon had been staring down upon you for aeons. Perhaps staring down wasn't the right phrase, after all, you seldom saw it through the dense timber and the seemingly dark clouds. Rain?
You thought about the situation a bit. Her team had tried to kill you over the scroll. Understandable given the FORBIDEN JUUUUUTSU that was inside. But to think...such information being leaked? You weren't just some chuunin punk. You were simply put...elite. Not to mention the guise of a C-rank mission given directly by the kage? Perhaps too much trust was put into leaders...or not enough trust into the followers. In any case, such information would have had to have been leaked by an insider. A traitor. Even in this world of mercenaries...dishonorable. Though what you did to the dead wasn't exactly respe- oh!
You had to think, what to do! When she woke up, she would remember that. All of it. Or maybe she would repress it. Hmm. Still, a suitable lie. You made hand crafted p- no...ahh, animaaaahhh no wait...The entire thing was a genjutsu! Of course! But the bodies...they were just ashes now. Couldn't lie about that. No choice but to tell her the truth if it came up. The rain started, heavy stuff.
You eventually come across a large tree, towering above even the surrounding trees, though they're not particularly large themselves. Though everything in the damn forest is huge anyway. Awww. The tree, it had a large crevice. Big enough for two maybe, a tight fit. You still manage to get in with her, though you have to fit her on your lap. Both injured and now drenched, this was a terrible position to be in. It felt like a bad ero-book to be honest. Now all that was left was for her to go tsunde- No! FFFFFFF Not the time to be thinking about this. This was a terrible situation, period. You eventually fall asleep.
The next morning, you wake up the sound of a scream. Before long you realize the girl woke up and was now shouting and screaming in terror. It was mostly just noises and gibberish, but you had to calm her down somehow, even before you could tell her your little white lie.
A) Headbutt her B) Try to restrain her and try to take some sense into her or start shouting like a psycho yourself. C) Whisper something with a grin to try and get her attention (to shut her up) D) Kiss her E) Toss her out of the shelter.

What we did to her was kinda messed up.... Why can't we make it so that it really was a genjutsu all along?

Um... Cactus, one thing....
What does this mean: "You made hand crafted p- no...ahh, animaaaahhh no wait..." These sentences are hard to comprehend.
Another thing, I don't think we should lie to her. If she were in our shoes, she would've done the same thing. We don't need to lie.

You put on a devilish grin and start to whisper something. Just barely audible, maybe enough for her to catch part of it. But it's just mumbling in actuality. She starts to come down but she still looks shocked. It's clear she's trying to tune in though.
"That genjutsu took a lot of you I guess".
Her eyes lock on to yours and her expression freezes in between a mix of shock and realization. "But...my allies!", she shouts.
You put on a hardened expression and grimace. "I'm sorry, but they're still dead."
She starts to tear up again. "NO! NO! IT WAS REAL! YOU USED THEM A PP~" she trails off.
You bring your hands to hear the back of her head and hold her still. "What? I don't understand. Calm down, calm down. I don't control what you see...it only shows you your own fears."
She looks at you again in disbelief. She manages to push herself out of the tree onto the muddy ground. The sky is grey and there are formations of clouds still hanging around, a drizzle falling to the ground. You struggle to get out of the tree from your sitting position, your legs feel sore and your ribs even moreso. "Hey stop...you'll get an infection or something."
She's struggling in her bindings squirming in the mud, but she seems to be sane. "Enemy! Using dirty tricks! Free me!" She grunts as she tries to get out but it won't make a distance.
You grab her by the shoulders and lift her up where upon she delivers a head butt square to your nose. You think you hear a crack and check your nose. "Dam-"
"Why'd you keep me alive! Are you some sort of sicko? Just kill me!"
You wipe some blood from your nose. Damn girl. She's not worth the trouble. You fix your poise and puff up your chest a little. "I'm a ninja! Not an animal! I won't kill the defenseless." You linger on the corpse puppets for a bit.
She literally growls at you, baring her teeth. "You killed my comrades! You k-" She gasped suddenly but you cut her off anyway.
"Your team was trying to kill me! You should consider this mercy!" You deliver a light smack across her face. Not enough to knock her down. "What you did...you could have started a war! Who knows, you might!"
She looks down at the ground and mumbles something.
"What?"
"You killed m-" Just more mumbling.
You move up and grab her shirt, having left her flak vest back in the battlegrounds. "What the hell are you talking about?" At this point your patience isrunning thin, but mostly due to frustration. Previously you decided to spare her but now? Anger.
She looks up and blurts out her words, "Y-you killed my sis! My sister!"
You are slightly taken aback, but it doesn't really matter at this point. "I...I told you. Consider it mercy that you're even alive."
You move in to pick her up again, causing her to yelp. You pick her up in your arms but she reacts violently, trying to bite your neck. You drop her to the ground, luckily it is muddy.
She growls, "Stay the hell away from me. You'll just take me to be tortured!", opening her mouth wide. You realize she's trying to bite off her own tongue, a somewhat archaic method. You stop her, grabbing her lower jaw.
"Stop!" She struggles and tries to bite it anyway. "I already got the information I need from you. Stop it!"
She continued to struggle, violently shaking her head until you let go, letting her stumble back into the mud. "Stop it. You're really going to get an infection."
She looks up in defiance. The hate in her eyes is intense. "You...undressed me...where is it?"
Your own expression is nothing short of fierce. "Your vest? I ditch-" You're cut off by her shouting.
" The locket..."
"Eh?"
You realize that there was something that you dropped back in the field. A crappy old locket, probably made of bronze or copper, nothing special.
"My locket...I had a locket. It was in my vest..."
"I dropped it... I won't go back for it."
She shows her teeth off again. "Get it you bastard!"
A) Go back and get it. It's probably not to far. B) Don't, she'll probably hate you permanently C) Free her and let her get it but it's unlikely you'll see her again, unless it's on the battlefield.

"Tch...fine" You are still ticked off, for whatever reason. Possibly because she headbutted your nose and tried to bite you, but no matter. You know the general location of the site so it shouldn't take a while.
"First" You crouch down next to the girl, going through your pouches again - food. "Open up."
She keeps her mouth shut though, spiteful resistance. You pop a round food pill into your mouth. It doesn't feel like much at all to be honest. Nothing compared to a meal...a real one that is. You get up and re-place the other pill into the pouch. You turn to leave, glancing back just once. "Fine. Just stay here, I'll be right back."
You dash off, leaving her in the drizzle. Probably not a good idea but trying to fight her was just wasted time.
---
You arrive at the scene, it really wasn't too far. The area was still mostly a black crater in the ground. But it should definitely be around. You had undressed her away from the site of the cremation. You begin checking the surrounding areas.
Ahh! You find it, it was worse than you remember. It almost looks handmade though. Too bad part of it is broken. The lock on the locket is bent out of shape, unable to properly close. You take a peak. Two small pictures. Halves of faces on each side, with big grins side to side. It's actually creepy...well, a little. The people in the picture are just young children. One is definitely the red head, her hair seemed much shorter and neater though. The other...ugh. It was the girl you had used for the puppet show.
You snap out your stance, realizing you were lingering. Time to go back. pocket it when you hear,
"Hey! Guys, over here! This part's been cleared out by something!"
You realize it was probably more troops from her faction. It was danger. Your feet flash as a spray of dust kicked up. You vanish. It was only to distance yourself but there was still the risk of losing your position and getting lost at this speed. It was hardly a move proper such a densely wooded area. Little room for precision. You manage to safely distance yourself and continue at a good pace. Where was she? You have a thought though....leave her and maybe they would find her. Take her back...
You push the thought away, at least until you return to her. It didn't take too long. She is still sitting on the ground where you left her. The rain was getting worse though. Both of your wounds wouldn't be in good shape at this rate. Pain wasn't an issue so much as the risk of infection. Even medical jutsus would have problems with that except the most advanced moves aka the risky ones.
"I'm back", you speak somewhat familiarly. She only glares. Oh...right. You crouch down and hand it to her, being as gentle as possible. "What'd you do with the bodies?" Her voice is listless, weak. Maybe something was wrong...physically that is. "I cremated them..." Her eyes shot up for just an instant before looking away. It seems she is satisfied. That is to say, as satisfied as a mourner could possibly be. You stand back up, dusting your pants at random. You think for a moment, the girl - she definitely wasn't cut out to be a ninja. In all honesty, her psyche is probably no stronger than that of a genin or new chuunin. No tolerance for the heavy stuff, and naive even, trusting you, trusting the enemy. Probably doesn't want to die either, clinging to life. No ideas about the foolish honor and pride of the conflict. No concept of arrogant glory. Who in the world...was she. Who in the world were they? Just ordinary people.
You want to save her. Tired of being the villain to some, warrior to others, desiring to be the unconditional hero. You feel old.
You snap out of your little aside, realizing her breathing is growing shallow yet desperate. Something is definitely wrong...
A) Take her back to your village as soon as possible B) You leave her in hopes that her possible allies will find her C) Put her out of her misery.

No choice! It'd be too awkward to carry her in your arms such a long distance. You cut her out of the tape binding her legs and arms, instead lifting her onto your back. Piggy-backing would be much easier to travel the long distance. You lean over ever so slightly and plant your arms under her legs, gripping them. You leap away into the treetops.
It would normally take half a day or so to get back to Iwagakure from the inn you were previously bedding at, however that was only at a somewhat leisurely pace, nothing too serious. But to make this, you'd have to double time it, she could die!
You flew through the tree tops, branches crumbling in the wake of your steps. Your feet coated in chakra to propel your every movement.
---
Not too far now. You feel the bone splinters in your side acting up, slicing at your innards with each jump. You flinch at the pain. That wasn't all - your entire body aches. Mostly from that fall and this accelerated trip. The girl's breathing had become incredibly faint over the trip. Was she even alive? Would she make it?
The gates, they come into view. Iwagakure. They're so close. The gates! The gates...they're closed. Hell. Luckily the guards spot you and start opening the gate but then they stop. They're pointing at you...wait...not you. The girl. The dumb bastards.
You think you can make it through the gap though.
A) Stop and hail the guards and try to get in with her, but can you finish the route to the hospital after wasting time with the guards? Might raise flags with the Iwa guard (only the girl) before you can get her treated. B) Quickly hand her over to them to get her immediate medical attention, the quickest...for both of you, but it might not go well. It's the most legitimate way though. C) Try to run through, might raise some flags on both you and the girl but you're sure you can make it straight to the hospital if you don't let anything get in the way.

Why are we going out of our way to save her? We killed her family and did that puppet thing with their bodies. Pretty sure she is going to hate us for the rest of her life and will never befriend us. Unless you guys plan on breaking her mind and turning her into some kind of mindless slave?

I'm sure Cactus already took that into account, overt. Nice to see a new person btw. Befriending someone like this isn't going to be easy. But if we could show her our character, then in time, she can change.
