Battle #1: Itachi vs Minato:
Itachi and Kisame hopped from tree to tree, moving as fast as possible. They had failed in their assignment to capture the host of the Nine-Tailed Fox. The Hokage returned early from his departure. That, paired with the unexpected arrival of one of the Sannin, Jiraiya, forced the pair to abandon their mission. What was assumed to be an easy task had quickly become a life threatening one.
"Itachi... can't we slow down?" Kisame asked. "We've lost our initial pursuers some time ago."
"No. We're still being followed," Itachi curtly said. Kisame was about to object, but he knew better than to doubt the senses of his partner. He could feel Samehada writing in anticipation on his back. At first he thought it was just disappointment from not shedding enough blood, but if a powerful shinobi was following them...
A yellow and white blur shot by both of them, stopping up ahead. Itachi and Kisame landed on the ground as they stood face to face with the Yellow Flash himself, Minato Namikaze.
"I've finally caught up to you Akatsuki scum," he spoke sternly, twirling a branched kunai with a talisman attached to it around his finger. "You tried taking my son from me. Not even the beast that now lies within his body could stop a father from protecting his son... you two stand no chance. You will pay for your insolent act!"
Kisame reached for Samehada's handle, but Itachi raised a hand, ordering him to stop. "No, Kisame... continue to the base. I will hold him off." Normally Kisame would object, but the fierce killing intent radiating from the two men meant that Itachi would not play around with this fight.
"You think I will just let him escape?" Minato asked.
"You will be too occupied facing me," Itachi replied.
A slight breeze flowed throughout the forest, stirring the foliage and creating the only audible noise in the tense, silent moment. And right as Kisame body flickered off, Itachi threw several shuriken and breathed fire chakra onto them. Minato was about to stop Kisame from fleeing, but Itachi's quick attack diverted his attention. A quick seal and thrusting his hands outward was all that was needed to not only extinguish the shuriken, but also halt their momentum and send them falling to the ground.
"Then I will have to finish you off," Minato said. "Just like I should have done five years ago. But you time your operations carefully, Itachi... you know not to mess with the Leaf when I am around."
"It is simply the wisest course of action. Make no mistake... I do not fear you," Itachi said. The Hokage may be avoiding eye contact, but his choice to speak before battling was a poor one against a genjutsu master. It was all over for him. Itachi simply pointed at Minato, placing him under a genjutsu. Darting forward, Itachi plunged a kunai into his neck...
...only for Minato to explode in a blast of wind, knocking Itachi back and shredding his robes somewhat as the wind cut into his skin.
"Did you really think I would be foolish enough to face you without using a shadow clone?" Minato asked from somewhere in the forest. Itachi remained alert as he awaited the Hokage's next action. A rain of kunai shot out from the forest, being scattered around from a blast of wind. Itachi quickly reacted, spinning around and spitting several fireballs in the direction of the kunai's origin. Itachi saw a blur shoot out of the brush. Such speed! Not even his Sharingan could completely track it. Itachi spun around in time to block an attack from Minato, who was wielding a kunai with wind chakra surrounding it in the shape of a sword. Itachi countered by forming seals at a blinding rate and using the Uchiha's signature Great Fireball Technique. The fireball engulfed the nearby area, but Itachi knew that he did not hit the Hokage.
Predicting a sudden attack from the Hokage, Itachi body flickered away from his location and scanned his surroundings with his Sharingan. Minato blinked into existence in front of a kunai on the path before Itachi. A glowing, spinning orb of chakra was in one hand. Itachi tried to use a genjutsu, but Minato had vanished in a burst of speed once more. Itachi knew that there was a kunai behind him, but it was too late. He spun around in time for the Rasengan to grind into his chest...
...and he burst into a flock of crows! Minato teleported out of the way before the crows could flap around and peck at him, providing an opportunity that Itachi could take advantage of. Water burst out of the ground and raced towards him, but again the Hokage easily teleported out of the way. What he did not expect was to be standing right next to Itachi, who was holding one of his kunai. Minato was about to strike with the Rasengan still in his hand, but a sharp blow to his back knocked him to the ground, disrupting the destructive ninjutsu. The shadow clone of Itachi that had attacked Minato was then detonated by Itachi, throwing him back several feet. Minato vanished once more in mid-flight, and Itachi again could barely track his movements.. Yet he knew where the Hokage was located: his crows, similar to Minato's kunai, were now scattered amongst the forest, watching intently for his presence.
Itachi moved through the forest, making sure to reach an area that was relatively kunai-free so that Minato could not make any sudden attacks. Despite this, one of his crows noted his vanishing, and he reappeared in front of Itachi, another Rasengan in hand. Itachi instinctively fired a blast of Amaterasu from his eye, but Minato saw the design on his Sharingan change. Instead of the black flames igniting the Hokage, they ignited a tree behind him as he once more vanished.
Itachi grimaced as he tried to formulate a strategy to taking him down. The fight needed to end soon, and fast. Could he risk using Susanoo in such a situation? Upon achieving the jutsu and using it, he could instantly feel a great drain on his chakra reserves, and that was using it for a few seconds. If it were to be used, it would be for one decisive strike... but first he had to ensure that it could happen. There was no way the Sword of Totsuka could land a blow on Minato with all of his kunai scattered around. He could try fleeing, but with his guard down and with the speed of the Hokage...
Itachi's thoughts were interrupted as Minato took out the second crow clone. Now he was in danger again, but his crows had not only been tracking the Hokage's movements, but also uprooting his kunai and disposing of them. His options of sudden strikes and sudden escapes were diminishing... but Itachi knew that it would not be enough.
Itachi quickly produced a kunai and once again blocked a sudden strike from Minato with a chakra blade of wind. Itachi successfully placed Minato under a quick genjutsu, but the Hokage broke out of it before Itachi could deliver a fatal blow. The two continued to clash their weapons in a blinding flash, but it was no use... Minato was too fast for Itachi. Two cuts across his chest resorted to him retreating, but Minato pursued. Itachi gritted his teeth as he was forced to fire off another blast of Amaterasu. He did not expect it to hit the Hokage, but it at least caused him to depart momentarily. He could already feel a strain on his body... this was not good. He had to end the battle now!
With his crows watching from the trees and Minato continuing to be oblivious to their presence, Itachi knew his current location. He let loose another Great Fireball in Minato's direction, but this was an empowered version of the jutsu that created a tremendous fireball that exploded, destroying the section of forest that Minato resided in. Itachi knew that attack would not end the Hokage, but it was the set up to defeating him. For it was this spot of the forest that did not have any of his kunai... he would strike, but the golden chakra flowing out of Itachi's body showed that Minato would not win.
Sure enough, Minato appeared near the kunai, battered and burnt from the great fireball's explosion. But the golden chakra had now ballooned in size to a mighty Tengu warrior with sword and shield in hand, a third arm wielding a suspicious jar of sake.
"This is Susanoo. None who have seen this jutsu have lived... including you, Hokage. Allow me to reunite you with your wife!" Itachi exclaimed as Susanoo's third arm opened the jar of sake, an etheral blade lashing out of the jar, striking... nothing?
Itachi paled considerably, feeling fear for the first time in his life as he felt cold metal press up against his neck.
"Not even the Sharingan saw the kunai I threw before your Susanoo fully formed, did it?" Minato asked. "Allow me to reunite you with the rest of your clan."
And with one swift motion, crimson sprayed across the ground as the majestic golden chakra flickered and died out. The body of the sinister traitor behind the Uchiha Massacre fell to the ground, lying still as the life flowed out of him. Minato had no time to waste: Itachi's partner was still at large. Akatsuki would know the price of crossing the Leaf!
Winner: Minato Namikaze.
This doesn't seem like much of a stomp as it might have been depicted. I see this confrontation going 60-40 in Minato's favor.
