Okay, as you probably know right now, whether or not a new CYOA starts up on this site currently depends on my decision. I don't like that. So I'm going to create a new board where users can freely create new CYOA and leave it up to the users to decide which ones get to 'graduate' to their own board. As it stands, I've got two different systems in my mind for how this could work:
1.) Create a poll where the users vote on whether or not it advances. I'm thinking a minimum of 10 votes with a minimum of 70% approval before creating a new board.
2.) Create a minimum post count that, when exceeded, would result in the creation of the board. For this, I'm thinking a minimum of 50 posts for the limit.
Also, I'd like to know if you think the new system (assuming you vote to change it) should be applied to some of the newer CYOA that currently have their own board.
Feel free to discuss the options, suggest modifications to them, and/or propose your own system for it.

I like option 2 more than 1. Like Forte has said before... It shouldn't matter how many people vote in a CYOA, but how interested the people are to certain CYOAs. Even if one person is interested... In time, 50 posts would be generated. In addition, I have a feeling that 10 different people voting on the creation of a new CYOA would be difficult. In certain CYOAs, we only have a few voters. So, to come up with 10 different members to vote on a certain CYOA would be difficult.

Well, those limits are just the ones that I came up with as guidelines. If you like the suggestion, but don't like the limits, feel free to suggest a different limit.

30 posts to generate a new CYOA seems more reasonable, but "challenging" (for lack of a better word) to get.

You should also organize the board order by activity.

I second Bluebomb's suggestion.

If Bluebomb and Vegeta mean ranking the board by the author's activity if possible (for potential readers to see who updates most), then I third said suggestion.
If it's by global activity (author + readers), meh. Neither for nor against.
Edit: For the original question, I think option two will lead to fewer complications.

I'd think it would be the number of readers/participants.

Yeah, I like option 2 the best, with the variations that were recomended.
I plan to start my own in the near future, soon as Ican finish reading all of the other ones to make sure my ideas for possible plot events hyave not already been used in other stories

Nothing new under the sun, etc. Just execute in your own way and it won't really matter.
