Kakuzu's Character Theme: Coroner - Masked Jackal.I chose this mainly because of the title, which reflects Kakuzu. Yeah. Kakuzu's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - Ricochet. Some of the Akatsuki got shafted these lamer songs from the Korean version of Guilty Gear XX, which had a lot of average to bad songs with a few gems. This is not one of those. It's heavy and stuff, but whatever. It's adequate. Kakuzu's Battle Theme (with Earth Grudge Fear in full action): Starkweather - Silken Garotte/The Infinity Coil.I originally had some other song from this album in place of this one, but it wasn't on youtube. Then I picked another one from the same album, but I realized it had a long quieter part. Then I saw this, which I should have picked first because the title fits with Kakuzu's body <_<. Some nice crushing metalcore for Kakuzu (and not the shitty pop metal branded as metalcore).

Deidara's Character Theme: Megadeth - Killing is My Business... and Business is Good!Yeah, the title sums up Deidara's character nicely. The nice punky sound makes it even better. Deidara's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - Riding the Clouds.Another one of those subpar themes shafted to the Akatsuki, but this one isn't too bad. I personally enjoy the immense groove factor behind this one. But there's no way this is suitable for Deidara all the time every time. Deidara's Battle Theme (pissed off): Megadeth - Rust in Peace... Polaris.Which is why this song is here. A song about a nuclear bomb works nicely for Deidara. And the sheer amount of ass kicking in the riffs is very nice, especially the rifftastic bridge near the end of the song.

Pain's Character Theme: Naruto Soundtrack - Girei. One of the few canon themes that I liked enough to keep. The haunting choir works wonderfully for Pain. The song also blends in nicely with the other two battle themes. Pain's Battle Theme (1-5 Paths of Pain): Blazblue Soundtrack - Awakening the Chaos. The operatic intro may be a bit too long, but it's fucking awesome. It just gets awesomer once the guitars kick in. The continued presence of the operatic vocals are awesome. And it gets awesomest at the peaceful break before the final chorus. Pain's Battle Theme (The Six Paths of Pain): Star Ocean 3 Soundtrack - Highbrow.Holy shit ten minutes and none of it loops you are an awesome final boss theme. Bombastic as fuck for the first four minutes, and then it gets jazzy and shit with some dark segments until around 7 minutes in. Then it contains segments of the bombastic powerful stuff and the jazzy stuff and the really sinister parts. Very fitting for such a powerful foe.

And for a preview of what's coming up in the CYOA... Orochimaru's Character Theme: Naruto Soundtrack - Orochimaru's Theme.Another canon theme that works too well. Who knew Bach would work so well for him. I prefer this over the normal theme because of the female vocals. They're nice. Orochimaru's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - Feel a Fear.Feel a fucking fear. So much swag and groove, but in a very malicious and dark manner. Playing both the X and XX versions of this song at the same time make it even cooler, because both have things that the other did better. XX has way better twangs in the intro riff, but X has the right octave for the chorus (but the lower octave in the XX version makes it sounds more demented). I believe this was the song that started this whole idea of assigning songs to Naruto characters in the first place.

Mei's Character Theme: OC Remix (Blood on the Asphalt) - Army Girl. While she may be a useless fanservice character in canon, Mei's pretty important in my CYOA. She's the reason why the Mist still exists, being the only leader that knows how to keep the people happy. Cammy's theme has always been a very chill song, and this remix just further exemplifies that, showing Mei's calm and collected personality that enabled her to finally bring an end to the Mist's civil wars. Mei's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - The Great Empress. This is one of the few gems from the Korean soundtrack to Guilty Gear XX. This song just oozes the feel of facing a powerful and beloved ruler with its very regal sound. And dem arpeggios. It may be a bit pompous for her, but whatever it's cool.

Onoki's Character Theme: Baten Kaitos Origins Soundtrack - The Light and Darkness of Balance.Another song chosen purely for its title that I can also justify. The title fits because Onoki has that title referring to scales. He's the only surviving old dude leader (that still leads), so he gets this brass-driven piece. While he may be a stubborn ass, he does care for his people and knows when tough decisions have to be made, where the title comes into play again, along with the mixture of soaring melody and heavy rhythm. Onoki's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - Vengeance is Mine.Old dudes can still be hip and fight people, too. So Onoki gets this song that has some groove to it. The song might sound too light hearted, but the solos contain some sort of ferocity to them, especially the ending one.

Taro's Character Theme: Castlevania Curse of Darkness Soundtrack - Forest of Jigramunt.Aww yeah Castlevania. The dark intro is reflective of Taro's past as a tyrannical ruler. Then the moving lamentful piece truly begins. It's calming, but you can feel sorrow and regret in it. Poor old dude. It must suck knowing your responsible for several decades of civil war. Taro's Battle Theme: Eternal Sonata Soundtrack - I Bet my Belief.Since he's like the oldest dude alive in both looks and actions (Onoki's still bratty), he gets classical stuff for both things. Motoi Sakuraba makes really good and catchy standard battle themes.

Genji's Character Theme: Castlevania curse of Darkness soundtrack - Eneomaos Machine Tower.Aww yeah more Castlevania. I don't know why, but this piece seems to hold a feeling of loneliness. I wanted something elegant, powerful, solitary, and with a bit of darkness. This piece works nicely for all of those qualities, solitude being the most important one for Genji. Genji's Battle Theme: Blazblue Soundtrack - Howling Moon. The organ at the beginning is a nice touch before the storm starts. This one of the more fierce songs that Daisuke Ishiwatari has composed, and it has all sorts of little dark twists in its structure that show that something's not right to Genji...

The last one for today. I realized that I had revealed nearly all of his themes, and he'll play an important part in my CYOA later. Utakata's Character Theme: Apollo Justice Soundtrack - Kitaki Family.A nice japanese folky tune that perfectly conveys the neglect and torment that Utakata has gone through his whole life, while also conveying his cold and stoic nature. Utakata's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear 2 Soundtrack - Hiruandan.I don't know what's with Japan and the guys going HYOOOOO, but whatever. This has Japanese folk elements peppered throughout. Utakata seems worthy of those elements because he actually looks Japanese. Utakata when he uses the Six-Tails' Power: Guilty Gear 2 Soundtrack - The Fate Broke Down. The main riff in this song is repetitive and gets old fast, but its certainly foreboding and threatening, as is the rest of the song. Perfect for fighting a jinchuuriki using a beast's power.

This is for you, giga~ Nijuichi's Character Theme: Phantasy Star Online Episode IV Soundtrack - Underworld -equilibrium-.Nijuichi as a character really only became important recently. Before this arc, he wasn't even anything. I originally just had him as a tribute to 21, but now it seems he's going to be important to the CYOA <_<. Due to his late arrival, I didn't really know what to give him for themes, but I like Phantasy Star Online's soundtracks. They are very nice. This song is very nice. It's very calming and has a sense of mystery about it. Nijuichi's Battle Theme: Phantasy Star Online Episode IV Soundtrack - Underworld -chaos-.Nijuichi's special, being the only character (I think) that has directly linked themes (edit: Kakashi says fuck you). This has different elements than the original, but the similarities are readily apparent. So instead of calming and mysterious, it's now rousing and mysterious.

Madara's Character Theme: Castlevania Symphony of the Night Soundtrack - The Tragic Prince. The main goal of Madara's themes is to show off his arrogance and power. Character themes are more personal to the character, however, which is why this one isn't entirely threatening. The orchestral intro and elements throughout show his pompousness, and the main melody shows his threatening, charismatic nature. The chorus shows his inner feelings. The title perfectly speaks to his character: The Tragic Prince. Of course Madara would see the events that has happened to him as a tragedy that has occurred to him. Douche. Madara's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - Bloodstained Lineage.Again, a pompous orchestral intro with ominous bells backed by strings and a thunderous timpani before the song kicks your teeth down your throat and doesn't let up. You might be curious at this point why I'm choosing the X versions of these songs over the more recent XX versions. I think that Daisuke Ishiwatari really butchered a lot of his songs in the XX arranges. The production is better, but certain parts of the songs are taken out and such. This and one other song are injured the most. It's really bad what he did to them. I'll save that rant, though <_<. The title once again fits here, because those Uchiha are crazy folk.

Kabuto's Character Theme: Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack - A Stray Child. This is a rather dark song, but it perfectly fits him, along with the title. Starts out spooky but then becomes more soothing with dark undertones. It's rather relaxing. Kabuto's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - In the Arms of Death. This one's alright. The intro and post intro are dark and stuff and fit him, but things after those two segments sound too lighthearted for me. He was drafted into this song, so whatever. It's adequate enough.

The Sound Four's Character Theme: Baten Kaitos Soundtrack - Dead Beat. These guys aren't significant enough on their own to warrant separate themes, but as a group they warrant having themes because they are the first threat the protagonists face in the manga without having a jonin to fall back on. This is a typical bad dude sounding theme, but it reflects that fear of having to beat them without help from a sensei. The Sound Four's Battle Theme: Hard Corps Uprising Soundtrack - Common Boss Theme 2.And a really nice normal boss theme for these guys. Not much to say about this other than it's Daisuke Ishiwatari so it's guaranteed kickass.

Kimimaro's Character Theme: Star Ocean 3 Soundtrack - Misted Moon.Kimimaro has more character to him than the Sound Four, since he actually has a background. This is a really soft and melancholy piece that reflects his feeling of being unworthy to Orochimaru, along with the fact that he knows he will die soon. Pretty depressing. Kimimaro's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear Isuka Soundtrack - Quicksilver.I didn't really know what to give Kimimaro as a battle theme, but then this started and the beginning sounded like a heart monitor, so this song stuck. Sure, it's at a really heavy contrast with his normal theme, but this shows his conviction to prove himself in Orochimaru's eyes. The way the song ends with a flatline is very appropriate, too.

Naruto's Character Theme: (pre-timeskip) Naruto Soundtrack - Naruto's Theme.Because I realized the themes I had for Naruto and Sasuke are only reflective of their current states. By pre-timeskip this means before he gains super main character hax nonstop. This is a pretty snazzy tune full of spirit and such. Naruto's Character Theme: (post-timeskip) Helloween - Eagle Fly Free. For Naruto's more messiah-like state later on I wanted something with an uplifting feel with it without being extremely cheesy (which is most power metal). Helloween works there. The lyrics are all optimistic and stuff... I love how this super contrasts with Sasuke's post-timeskip theme below. Naruto's Battle Theme: (pre-timeskip) Guilty Gear XX Korean Soundtrack - Starchaser.A decent theme for a decent Naruto. If the manga was written properly though he would definitely become a better character post-timeskip, so the better Sol theme goes there. This one sounds a bit dark in the intro, but I guess I can spin an excuse that it's the stigma of being the Kyuubi host at work there. Naruto's Battle Theme: (post-timeskip) Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - Keep Yourself Alive II.Sol's way cooler than Naruto, but his theme has that in your face style that Naruto is known for. Very bouncy and boisterous feeling. Plus I guess main characters get other main character songs or something. Naruto when he uses the Nine-Tails' Power: Star Ocean 3 Soundtrack - The Divine Spirit of Language.I needed to ramp up the guitars when the fox comes out to play. This song certainly does that. Perhaps it's not as bestial as it should be, but who cares it's fucking awesome.

Sasuke's Character Theme: (pre-timeskip) Naruto Soundtrack - Sasuke's Theme. The below song in no way accurately reflects Sasuke before he became a psychopath, so I threw in his canon theme for the earlier days. Because whatever, it works decently enough. Sasuke's Character Theme: (post-timeskip) Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis.Naruto's post-timeskip theme is all fast and optimistic and stuff, while this theme is slow, dark, and extremely pessimistic. The perfect contrast between the two. It gradually gets more and more distorted and stuff as it nears the end, which reflects Sasuke falling into craziness. Sasuke's Battle Theme: (pre-timeskip) Guilty Gear Xrd Soundtrack - Magnolia Eclair. The new Guilty Gear Xrd songs gave me some pre/post timeskip themes to tack on to the manga's majorer characters. This works a lot more than the below song for pre-timeskip Sasuke. Sasuke's Battle Theme: (post-timeskip) Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead).Yeah I don't know. He got this theme because Naruto had Sol's theme <_<. Whatever, it's cool as hell. Now that Xrd gave new songs to the old ones, this fits a bit more in the vengeance jerk Sasuke sound. Sasuke Battle Theme (Level 2 Cursed Seal): Guilty Gear XX Soundtrack - The Midnight Carnival. He needed something to match an "oh shit" moment such as tapping into a bijuu's power. Guitars also ramped up here. Super cool song. Naruto vs Sasuke: (pre-timeskip) Guilty Gear XX Soundtrack - Noontide.Yeah, they're nowhere near as good characters as Sol and Ky, but their themes certainly work. Rival/enemies and all. Naruto vs Sasuke (final part of the Valley of the End fight): Lord of Vermilion Soundtrack - Abandoned Castle Rukusaria. Thus begins a long series of similar songs on the soundtrack that have the same chorus melody (it is a nice melody reflecting former friendship blah blah blah). I used to use every single one of them for various power-up clashes, but it's not really necessary, so I picked my favorite few and used those instead.

Tsunade's Character Theme: Persona 4 Soundtrack - Secret Base. This is a nice theme that has a cheerful melody to it, but there's something slightly off with it. I'm no music major, so I don't know if it's minor key or what, but it sounds like putting on a front to hide depression to me. Tsunade's got to be suppressing a lot of pain from her past, so this also kind of feels like pushing on despite all the bad things that have happened to her, since she's a strong woman and all. Tsunade's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Soundtrack - Monentary Life.XX version because it's barely different from the X version. How the drums come in really pump up the overall energy of the piece. Contemporary metal stuff mixed in with shamisen-style riffing and the flute in the chorus give a nice blend of old and new, which reflects Tsunade acting young and fiery and stuff despite her age. Tsunade vs -Surprise Upcoming Mystery Guest-Edo Tensei Dan: Dark Souls Soundtrack - Great Grey Wolf Sif.This would also be the fight theme where she's briefly being manipulated by Orochimaru in the CYOA. Dark Souls has a great soundtrack with a lot of lamentful songs, and this one is no exception. The haunting choir and the sorrowful orchestral bits really drive this song home, showing Tsunade's feelings far better than I could. It will become even more poignant when the surprise upcoming mystery guest shows up and she has to fight him, though maybe some of you have figured it out already. At least I didn't blab it like many other things. Edit: whoa it's Dan.

Well since the surprise mystery guest is an Edo Tensei guy, I have themes for them. If they're super important then they have their own themes anyway, but for guys like Dan, nope. Character Theme: Magic Sword - In the Face of Evil. This is the fresh part in this ancient and dusty post. Hotline Miami 2 came out, and this song was rather intoxicating and I wanted to use it for someone. The below song was a bit too much for any ol' Edo Tensei, so this foreboding piece fits for those. Character Theme (Strong): Baten Kaitos Origins Soundtrack - The Dead End Creatures.A song chosen by the title alone, but it certainly fits. Dark and bombastic with spooky parts sprinkled throughout. This was originally the sole Edo Tensei theme, but it's a bit too epic sounding to fit every single Edo Tensei. Battle Theme: Hard Corps Uprising Soundtrack - Common Boss Theme 1.Edo Tensei's some tough stuff, so it gets this really badass theme. I initially had lesser, mid, and greater battle themes (in addition to group themes), but I trimmed the fat so this theme gets more shine, because it's super great. Too bad important Edo Tenseis just get their normal battle theme.

And since a versus theme is currently happening and it would feel weird to just post it in its lonesome, a few bonus versus themes attached. Tsunade vs Orochimaru: Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - Still in the Dark. This one's pretty emotional. I have it where Tsunade had a childhood crush on Oro, but she's mature enough to not have let that bother her for a long time. Plus, she got an almost husband and all. This is emotional because Oro loves being a dick to her, as seen in the CYOA. So it's sorrowful anger kind of stuff, not because of who she is facing, but the circumstances around why she is facing him. Jiraiya vs Orochimaru: Guilty Gear X Soundtrack - No Mercy. This is a pretty basic song in my opinion, but it works here. A fitting title, because Jiraiya knows that Orochimaru can't be saved at all anymore. But there's still all those memories of being pals and everything, so it's kind of emotional in a way, but more of an angry feeling than a sad one. Sannin Battle: Lord of Arcana Soundtrack - Vermilion. This song certainly has the feel of legends clashing to me, and the opening melody has a nostalgic feeling because they all used to be teammates but then Oro became a dick. Only thinking of himself.

Oh yeah Hiruzen died and there's no way that dude's coming back. Since I'm bored, might as well show his themes. Hiruzen's Character Theme: Star Fox Assault Soundtrack - Star Wolf. This is a really powerful and glorious theme. Doesn't fit Star Wolf as much as the 64 theme did, but whatever, it's awesome. Hiruzen is like the paragon Hokage that led the village for the longest period of time so he should have this theme because it fits a man of power. Hiruzen's Character Theme (serious): Super Smash Brothers Brawl Soundtrack - Star Wolf.A nice arrangement of the Star Wolf theme, staying true to the original tempo and feel of the song. I decided to add this recently for when shit gets real. Hiruzen's Battle Theme: Guilty Gear XX Soundtrack - Pride and Glory. Then a southern bluesy rock theme for a normal fight. He doesn't have one of those in the time of the manga, so this would be for a sprier Hiruzen that had attitude and stuff. I guess since this could also be used as more light hearted character theme, too, since he does no fighting except for that one battle that's below the next thing. Hiruzen's Battle Theme (full power): Xenoblade Soundtrack - Mechanical Rhythm.I should really get around to playing this game sometime since I got it Christmas and I'm sure it cost my parents quite a bit and it has awesome music. This wasn't in the original post, but I decided to go through some of the strongest characters and give them some more themes if the existing battle theme wouldn't apply in all situations. This is a lot more imposing and powerful than the above theme, and it has a nice balance of dark and uplifting moments. Fitting for the God of Shinobi. Hiruzen vs Orochimaru: Lord of Vermilion Soundtrack - The Final Enemy. This was originally the only theme for this fight until I found the song below. Anyway, that's a badass organ intro. Then the first portion of the song seems off for this kind of fight, but it also works for some reason. Then there's a suspenseful bridge portion that builds up to the second portion of the song, which has an amazing melody. Hiruzen vs Orochimaru and the Senju Brothers: Lord of Arcana Soundtrack - Vs Master Guardian I.So only an extended version is on youtube, whatever. This part of the fight is when they get dangerous. It's basically an orchestrated version of the above song, and it's awesomer because the whole thing is serious business instead of part of it.

A new character appears! Juniji's Character Theme: F-Zero GX Soundtrack - Don Genie.I wasn't intending for such a fitting theme to be in F-Zero GX's soundtrack. Maybe I would know that if the AX pilots weren't impossible to get because that game is bullshit. Ahem. Anyway, this carries a feeling of mystery and threatening power, which perfectly works for him. Juniji's Battle Theme: Blazblue Soundtrack - Silent Scream.(midi recreation until official song is out there) Yay new Blazblue songs. His oldest theme was from Etrian Odyssey III, which had midi tracks because it was on the DS. I liked it, but none of the battle themes are midi, so its conflicting nature bummed me out. His older theme was The Tyrant from Blazblue, which mostly applies to the following description, but it was a bit too forward in aggression for Juniji. Now this song showed up. Holy hell is it intense. Far better than what I originally had here. This song oozes unrelenting malice-- perfect for such a mysterious and powerful character.

Fuu's Character Theme: (Normal) NieR Soundtrack - Kaine/Ecape.Upon further consideration, the old character theme I gave for her was far too emotional for an ordinary deal, so Fuu's special and gets multiple themes because I like her (okay, I do have themes for the Cloud genin post-timeskip). This one's more typical of her, being uplifting and adventurous. Fuu's Character Theme: (Sorrow) Star Ocean 3 Soundtrack - The Desolate Smell of Earth. This is a very beautiful song that reflects both the treatment she went through in her life and her yearn for freedom. She may act tough, but she's quite sensitive. Probably one of the best town themes in an RPG. Fuu's Battle Theme: Blazblue Soundtrack - Spirit of Fire. The new Blazblue songs are beginning to surface. I love the jazzy lighthearted feel to this. It perfectly reflects Fuu's upbeat attitude, and that significantly more rock-styled riff under the solo is a nice touch. Works well for a girl that enjoys fighting. Upon further listens, I'm noting a bit of a sorrowful tinge in the background of the song, which is even nicer. Fuu when she uses the Seven-Tails' power: Baten Kaitos Origins Soundtrack - The Valedictory Elegy.Probably one of the best standard battle themes in an RPG. I love that violin, especially its little solo near the end. The song itself is rather uplifting, which fits Fuu's attitude. This was formerly her normal battle theme before new Blazblue songs, so her old one got shafted because this is the better song.

Hidan's Character Theme: Arghoslent - Hereditary Taint.Obviously this guy needs death metal, but it can't be too heavy. This is a normal theme and all. So we get a very melodic death metal song, but not one of those sissy kinds. The lyrics don't really work because Hidan's not anti-Semitic (just anti-people), but the mood of hatred and such is there. I really enjoy that riff at the three minute mark. Hidan's Battle Theme: Blazblue Soundtrack - Black Onslaught. And because of my insistence on using Guilty Gear and Blazblue songs for a lot of these guys, we get a battle theme less heavy than the normal one. This was partly the reason why I gave Akatsuki multiple battle themes. Eh, compared to the other usual battle themes, this one's heavy enough to push him away from the rest. Nothing's really memorable about it except BIG BIG MISTAKE. Now that I actually look up the lyrics, they're pretty fitting. Too bad I can only make out BIG BIG MISTAKE.

And now for something completely different. Rather than work on the update, I felt like listening to music <_<. So I compiled a bit of themes for situations rather than people, and then since NieR's soundtrack is flipping amazing, I picked out themes for each of the villages. Here are the five major powers: Leaf Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - Hills of Radiant Wind. This has a lively and uplifting feel, which works well for the "main" village of the setting. It's very nice. Sand Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - Temple of Drifting Sands.Chosen partly because of the title, but the two vocal segments prove a nice contrast and complement at the same time. Obviously they blend together, but the main vocalist is singing in a rather lamentful manner, while the backing vocals sound cheerful. Nice for the downtrodden Sand. Mist Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - Repose. That little synth effect throughout certainly reminds me of mist. It sounds rather sad, but also hopeful at the same time, which works well for the village's bloody past and its current reformed manner. Rock Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - City of Commerce. Not much to say other than it's very nice and city-y. Cloud Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - The Prestigious Mask. This makes me feel like I'm in some far away land, which works quite well for a city in the mountaintops.

Now for the two villain villages. I would have included them in the last post, but I'm supportive of getting this topic to the next page so super lag stops happening upon loading it <_<. Though that means nothing now with super edit time. Rain Village Theme: NieR Soundtrack - The Wretched Automatons.I fucking love the beginning, how all the factory sounds make the percussion line and more gradually come in. This works for the Rain because for some reason it looks really modern compared to all of the other villages. Skyscrapers and shit. It doesn't sound really menacing, but Akatsuki isn't the entire village. Just a very small part that rules over it and could easily wipe out the non-Akatsuki portion of the village >_>. Sound Village Theme: 999 Soundtrack - Octal Game.None of the other villages have NieR stuff anymore. This is a very nice track from a fucking amazing game holy shit go play it now. Ahem. I picked this for the Sound because it has a very nice soothing feel that's also creepy at the same time. Works well for a creepy laboratory, especially for the one part shortly after the minute mark where the spookiness gets ramped up.
