tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePageThis wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction.
Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés. The word clichéd means "stereotyped and trite." In other words, dull and uninteresting. We are not looking for dull and uninteresting entries. We are here to recognize tropes and play with them, not to make fun of them. Some people can get so sucked into the wiki that they lose track of time. Hours feel like minutes. Great way to entertain oneself if bored.

Definitely take caution. Set an alarm clock for ten or fifteen minute intervals, or you will be sucked inward and never released from the power of the trope...

It's really bad at first. Every trope explanation seems to be riddled with other tropes that you have to look up to understand what the ****s going on. Once you have a lot of them down, though, its easier to read through. At first it's like a wonderful, wonderful nightmare
