Changing vote from A to B. Changing vote from Fenrir to Biscuit. Changing +5 intelligence to Biscuit to +5 agility. I took the hint. Changing my vote to this.

The hint was for future reference. I'm not telling you you can't have an intelligent dog, but considering intelligence is waaaaay more useful to you, it would make me sad to see you pouring it into him and neglecting it for yourself.
See, this time around, it's about numbers. There are formulas and dice rolls(literally, fancy calculator statistics applications) and all. So if you guys piss all your points into a category because you want a mouth gun, you might find yourself utterly unable to win some fights. That being said, I'll give checkpoints so you can go back and power level or some such. But if you piss those points away for an even better mouth gun, you're screwed.

You continue your journey through the trees, Biscuit not far behind you. You travel without difficulty for around four hours, you'd guess. You can't see the sky, but judging from the sound of the rain hitting the leaves, it's probably still storming something fierce. Eventually, your path is blocked by a row of intertwined trees. The wall of trees continues eastward until it starts to circle north. You begin to follow it that way when Biscuit lets out a low growl. He glares at the treeline, as if trying to look through it.
"Come on," you urge, and the wolf follows as you make your way around the trees. As your view North becomes clear, you see that the edge of the wood there forms a wall as well. You continue to follow the wall North until you find a small path between the trees. You step through, finding yourself in a large circular clearing. The thick growth of trees blocks off everything but the small path you just entered and another to the North. Heavy rain pelts you, as there is no cover here in the clearing, so you take off to the path leading North. Just as you reach it, a large creature ambles out. The miniscule amount of sunlight that peeks through the clouds allows you to make out the figure a little better. It looks just like a brown bear, only about three times larger. It roars at you menacingly.
"Turn back!" the bear bellows. A talking bear, apparently. You've seen stranger.
"We're just passing through," you say, forcing a smile and a friendly tone as you walk by. "Enjoy your forest, Mr. Bear."
"I won't let you have it!" he growls.
"I don't know what you're talking about at all," you reply innocently, scratching your cheek lightly.
"Liar!" the bear accuses. "You won't have my treasure, monster!"
The bear suddenly swats you, landing you right on your back.(-25) You quickly hop up and ready your weapons. You had hoped to resolve this peacefully, but on the bright side, you'll apparently get something valuable for your troubles.

Biscuit charges the bear and throws all of his body weight into it, surprisingly knocking the large creature down.(-24) It doesn't move at first, seemingly stunned by the collision. You toss all of your light throwing knives at it while it lays on the ground. They only penetrate about halfway due to the bear's thick fat and muscle.(-18)

Biscuit quickly climbs on the bear to tear a chunk of flesh from its neck.(-83) The bear reflexively swats at the wolf, but Biscuit nimbly dodges and returns to your side. The bear stands on his hind legs and attempts to threaten you, but due to Biscuit's bite, only makes strange grunts and gurgling noises. It suddenly charges you, but you exhale a dark cloud at the bear that swallows it up whole. (-50) As quickly as it vanishes, the bear emerges from your Void Breath and continues charging as if nothing ever happened. You quickly sidestep the creature, but he is able to gash your arm with a massive claw. (-30)

Biscuit hops in front of you, ready to protect you from whatever comes next. You quickly draw a heavy knife from its resting place on your right ankle and hurl it at the bear. It penetrates the beast's sternum with ease.(-13) Somehow, the creature still stands. In fact, you've only seemed to infuriate it. The bear charges yet again. Biscuit charges right back at it, allowing you to get away without a scratch. Biscuit is sent flying with a heavy swing from the bear's right arm.(-33) Before the bear can recover from that single swing, Biscuit is back on his feet, ready to counterattack with you.

A, B Counterstriking.
Counterstriking is where the bear tries to hit us, but we have a heightened sense or something like that and dodge it while giving the bear a hit.

uhhhhhh... you guys know there's a thread explaining abilities, right? Counterstiking is something you probably want to set up at the beginning of a fight, not when you have to whittle down 100+ health in two turns. The bear can easily kill you in one hit, so you better hope that 3.4% dodge chance will save you.
Actually, I'm gonna give you guys a big hint, since is like the second battle and I don't want you to lose. This will be the last time I give a hint, though. I can answer certain questions to avoid confusion, but that's it. Anyway, first, this combat is based on numbers. When you level up, you can't go 'oh hey, I want to be a lucky guy in this cyoa ha ha', because you'll die. Make sure you use your points wisely.
Now, a hint for the fight, because you're already setting yourself to lose. As in, if I update with counterstriking, you better hope luck(the real luck, the one that decides the dice roll) is on your side. If not, you're done, son. I don't want you dying on the second fight, so here's the breakdown: The bear has 112 health. He can kill you in one turn, and Biscuit in the next. Why aren't you trying to do as much damage as possible? Basically, this turn, you guys want to have a 3.4% chance of doing 18 damage to him, when you could just attack him and do 25 damage. Now, your mana. You're one turn away from being able to use void breath again. Don't waste the mana. Also, defend only protects you from half of the damage, so Biscuit can't save you. If you both defend, the bear hits you with 1/4 of the damage. You can survive that way(biscuit won't), then use void breath on it, but one big attack won't be enough. In summary: just hit the bastard.
Be glad I smoked a couple bowls after work, too. I'm feeling generous. Good luck in the future!
