You wake up and stare at your ceiling, you had barely gotten any sleep the night before, you were to excited after all. Today was THE day, the day that you finally became a ninja of the Village Hidden in the Sand, Sunakagure. You had come to love your village and becoming a shinobi was a big deal especially in these times. Suna was in constant conflict with Konoha and Iwa, meaning there was a constant need for more shinobis. On top of this conflict the bastard of a daimyo for the Wind Country was giving more and more mission to Konoha so Suna needed their ninjas to be good, and you thought you were
Your alarm suddenly snaps you back into reality, this was after all the first time you had ever woken up before your alarm in your entire life. Reaching over you turn it off and jump out of bed. After getting dressed you race downstairs and out the door only hearing your mom yell "Good luck Ray". You race through the streets of Suna lifting up a bunch of sand behind you as you quickly move. You took pride in your village even if it was in the middle of a desert and the fact that it was supposedly the weakest of the five great ninja villages, that didn't make a difference to you, this was home
You make your to the Academy just like any other day. It was a huge building similar to the Kage building except there was a huge training field in the back. You push aside some students who are younger than you and make your way to room C-5, the room that you would take your examination to become a ninja. Entering it you see a chunin with a clipboard leaning against a desk. The classroom was completely empty, probably for you to have as much room as neccesary. "Ray I presume?" the chunin said as you walk up to him, "Early now aren't we."
"Yes sir I am. Sorry I'm just really excited and ready for this," you say panting a little from mkaing your way down to the Academy in record time
"Alright well I guess you're ready for your examination then. So tell me how are you ranked in your class? And which of the three main areas do you specialize in?" the chunin said writing informations on the clipboard he had
Pick a Number and a Letter
A: Best at Ninjutsu
B: Best at Taijutsu
C: Best at Genjutsu
1: Top of Class
2: Middle of Class
3: Bottom of Class
"I was in the top of my class, and pretty good at genjutsu if I do say so myself," you say remembering the hours of studying how people's chakra networks work to attack it better
"Alright then," the chunin said putting down his clipboard and doing several handseals. You look up at him and then suddenly you're out in the desert with a small oasis beside you. "This way we can better have your test without needing to hold back. But since we are taking the genjutsu test your requirements are as follow, put me into a genjutsu, attack me back with a ninjutsu or taijutsu whichever you're better with, then break out of my genjutsu. Also feel free to show off a little if you can at any time. Understood?" You nod your head as the chunin draws a kunai and comes running at you
As you begin to run backwards you make some handseals for one of your genjutsu. The chunin is drawing closer and closer so you begin to do another genjutsu. You see the disappointed look on the chunin's face as he stabs at you but just rests the kunai on your chest. When he begins to speak your body suddenly disappears with a gust of wind and reappears next to the chunin except you have your kunai to his chest. "I call that my Eye Twist Jutsu, it alters your depth perception by making eye contact with me," you say knowing that he would still be disoriented for a little while unless he kais out of it
The chunin quickly slashes his kunai almost cutting you as you jump back. The chunin attempts to stab you again but his depth perception is still a little off so he misses, but not by much. You quickly get some distance between the two of you preparing for the next phase of the test. Though you're best at genjutsu you need to fight back in another field which you weren't to strong with. On top of that you wanted to impress the chunin with one last move that you had been working on for a while
The chunin comes racing at you and you get ready you need to block with a ninjutsu or taijutsu then finish off with your special jutsu. Here goes...
A: Block with offensive style taijutsu
B: Block with evasive style taijutsu
C: Block with nonelemental ninjutsu
D: Block with elemental ninjutsu
1: Counter by sealing the chunin's chakra flow in his arm
2: Counter with a powerful eye contact genjutsu
3: Counter with a powerful sound genjutsu
4: Counter with a powerful ninjutsu/taijutsu (depends on which one you pick)
If D (sorry just trying to get some of the basics out quickly
!: Use a katon
@: Use a fuuton
#: Use a raiton
$: Use a doton
%: Use a suiton
As the chunin comes running at you, with kunai in hand, you quickly draw your kunai and go in for some offensive taijutsu. You block his kunai with your own then slap his other hand away as you kick his side quickly. The chunin falls to the ground but quickly rolls and gets back to his feet, coming at you again. You get in your fighting stance and quickly check his kick with your left arm and punch him in the chest with your right hand. You hope he's going some what easy on you since he is leaving several openings
The chunin gets up again and begins to run at you. Now's time for your finally. You begin by throwing your kunai at him to distract him, which doesn't work to well. You make four handseals ending with horse and then clapping your hands. This jutsu definitely takes a lot of you but the chunin was close enough it would work perfectly. He stopped his charge and took one step forward but began to fall to his right. His body jerked as he continued to move and stumbled this way and that. It looked like he was doing a crazy dance
You haven't really perfected this jutsu yet but it effected the ears and the cerebellum causing someone to completely lose their balance. Once it got into their brain the genjutsu really kicked in by making the person beleive the ground is shifting so they have to move around, but since their sense of balance was effected they moved sporadically like the chunin was doing. The chunin finally dropped to the ground and slowly raised his left hand and slowly got up after a few seconds. He looked over at you before puking on the ground. You grin as he stands up raising his left hand again and the room reverts back to the classroom
"Congratulations. You've passed with flying colors, that last genjutsu really shook me up and your taijutsu work is impressive as well. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you as a ninja of the Sand," the chunin says going over to his clipboard. He scribbled several things down before handing you a headband. You beam down at the headband in awe proud that all the hard work you've done over the past few years has finally lead up to this. "Come back to classroom A-2 tomorrow at noon to meet with your team. Now get out of here," the chunin said. You quietly nod and do as you are told
Your exam didn't even take an hour meaning you had plenty of time to train or just relax. You finally arrive at home and make your way to kitchen. "You're home early, I haven't even finished making lunch for you and your father yet," your mom says, "How did the test go?"
"Passed with flying colors," you say pointing to the headband wrapped around your forehead, "I'm a ninja of the Sand now mom."
"I'm so proud of you," your mother said hugging you, "It's good I'm making your favorite for dinner later tonight then huh. So what are you going to do with your free time, remember you're a ninja now and may not have much of it in the future"
A: Look for your dad to train, he is a jounin after all
B: Ask your mom to train, she is a chunin after all
C: Solo training, after all neither of your parents are ninja
D: Relax, you may not have much free time in the future after all
"I'm gonna go find dad for training. Do you know where he is?" you ask making your way to the door
"He was at a meeting with the Kazekage. It should be ending soon so you could probably meet him while he's leaving," your mother says. You quickly thank her and run out the door. The Kage building is several blocks from your house in the opposite direction of the Academy.
On your way there you pass the training grounds where a boy in all black is fighting against a rather attractive girl with a giant fan. You slow down and watch some of the fight until you recognize them as Kankuro and Temari, kids of the Kazekage and a grade above you. Rumor has it them and their younger brother Gaara are the strongest genin cell in Suna history. In fact you wonder where Gaara is, you'd seen him a few times before and every time you were near you he gave you the creeps. You then remember the task at hand, training, so you quickly take off towards the Kage building
You arrive and wait in the waiting area since you weren't allowed to go any farther without official business. Since you are waiting for a couple minutes you begin to go over your arsenal. You have four genjutsu counting your Eye Twist and your sound based genjutsu, World Scrambler. Eye Twist was pretty much perfected and your other two were decent enough but World Scrambler was extremely chakra consuming at this point. You're pretty decent at taijutsu especially with a kunai but have very little ninjutsu capabilities. You had some serious work to do as you developed into a ninja.
Just then several jounin walk through the door, including your father. He was wearing traditional Suna jounin attire and had his headband wrapped around his head which kept his shaggy brown hair out of his eyes, basically he was an older more muscular version of you. He looks over at you and grins when he sees the headband around your forehead. "Well look at that my son's finally a ninja," he says as you run over to him
"Sure am. I passed and even used that genjutsu World Scrambler that you taught me as a little bit of overkill," you say as several of your father's friends walking by give you a pat on the back and congratulate you
"Hmm very nice so what brings you all the way out here we were just getting out of an important meeting," your father says staring down at you
"I was hoping we could get in some training before I meet my jounin tomorrow," you say eagerly
"Oh yeah you have Ja...whoops not supposed to reveal your jounin yet. Anyways, training right let's go over to the training grounds and get some practice in shall we. So what are you interested in doing today?"
A: Improve taijutsu
B: Go over ninjutsu basics
C: Improve your current genjutsu
D: Learn a new genjutsu technique
"I was wondering if we could improve on some of my current genjutsu?" you ask as you follow your dad to the training grounds
"Sure. Last I remember you had the one that alters depth perception almost completely down. Your sound one could probably use some work to. What are your other ones again?" your dad asks as you arrive at the now vacant training grounds
"Well there's the one that makes people think I'm doing a different jutsu that their generally familiar with. And the last one enhances someone's feeling of touch slightly so that it hurts more when their attacked," you quickly say, "I'm okay with both of them but not nearly as good as with Eye Twist, but definitely better than World Scrambler."
"Alright let's just work on your first three since they are weaker than World Scrambler which is a pretty high level jutsu especially for a genin," your dad says, "Okay let's begin..." The two of you spend the rest of the day working on your genjutsu. By the end of the day you're exhausted and barely make it home to eat dinner. Though genjutsu training wasn't all that physical, except for when your dad made you spar him and use them, it was definitely mentally draining and you had a long day ahead of you tomorrow. After dinner you quickly went to bed and went to sleep within minutes.
The next morning you quickly woke up and made your way to the Academy. Both your parents had left on missions this morning so you had been forced to make your own breakfast, which you were used to by now. AFter a few minutes of searching you arrive at room A-2. Inside are two other kids from your class that you're kind of familiar with Axel Ragnor and Jamie Hislan. Jamie waves to you as Axel merely gives you a head nod. "This will be an interesting cell," Axel said stretching
"Guess so," you say taking a seat a few seats down from Jamie
A: Socialize with Jamie
B: Socialize with Axel
C: Stay quiet and wait
D: Complain about how your jounin has yet to arrive
"So Axel which test did you end up taking?" you ask after a few minutes of silence
"Taijutsu. My clan's specialty especially with our Stretchy Limbs Jutsu," Axel said looking a little surprised you were speaking to him, "Though I can only use a few jutsu I still managed to pass and did some really light ninjutsu to back it up. And you, I heard you did pretty well?"
"Yeah I passed the genjutsu test using some jutsu my dad taught me along with some taijutsu."
"Ahh makes sense that the top of our class would be efficient in genjutsu. What about you Jam--" Axel said but stopped when a cloud of smoke appeared in the middle of the room. When the smoke cleared up there stood a tall, lean, yet toned man in jounin attire. His long blonde hair was pulled back in a small ponytail but also formed bangs that almost covered his grayish colored eyes. A half smirk came across his face as his eyes slowly moved from Axel to Jamie to you and back
"It's rude to not include the lady in your conversation boys especially when she's right between the two of you. If you have to ask I'll break down your files," he said dropping five folders on the desk in front of him, "Axel Ragnor passed taijutsu test, secondary in ninjutsu, ranked eleventh out of twenty-four students. Jamie Hislan passed ninjutsu test, secondary in taijutsu, ranked fourth out of twenty-four students. Ray Alarn passed genjutsu test, secondary in taijutsu, ranked first out of twenty-four students. In fact I can go on to tell all of you your age, height, weight, where you live, and much more but that's boring and really only takes up a few minutes of small talk. Look at each other and look at me, we're all best friends now and will be for quite some time."
The three of you looked at each other rather confused then back at your jounin, he was definitely interesting and you had no idea where he was going with this. "Me I'm Jagar Kingland and I am your jounin in my day we hardly had to take any tests because we were at war but if you want to know I'm strong in all fields but I excel in ninjutsu. But none of that matters right now, it's all paperwork really. In fact basically everything I've told you up til right now is pointless," Jagar said now pacing
Jamie reluctantly raised her hand. Jagar gave a nod in her direction so she spoke, "So why did you tell us if is pointless?"
"Ahhh good question from Ms. Hislan. The answer, because small talk and simple facts like that will not get this cell anywhere. We are family now, tied together by the shinobi creed. You can know each other's simple information but you have to know each other inside and out as well because on missions you'll have to basically be one tool not three separate ones. You'll have to work together and know what each other is gonna do before the others do it," Jagar said beginning to pace again, "So to bond this group even better we'll be doing a training exercise. Something simple that some jounins at Konoha use on their genin, but with my twist. There is one bell and three of you, only one of you can take this bell. We're going to be in a fighting scenario, the three of you against me and yes I will be fighting back. Anyways we'll talk more on the way to training field Cell Two let's move."
You and your teammates slowly got up and followed your jounin out the door. This was definitely weird and you'd never heard of something so unusual before. You do remember your dad bringing up Jagar at dinner before, they may've been friends but his weird approach to things was always the centerpiece of your father's conversations that involved Jagar. Finally the four of you arrive at the training field which is actually a small field with some trees and bushes to hide in
"So to continue my explanation. I will be fighting back so it's obvious not one or two of you alone will take this bell. You'll have to work together but whoever manages to take the bell will aid me in deciding who your cell leader is. Oh and on top of that I know I said the paperwork and what not is pointless but it means something to the Kazekage, my superiors, and my equals so I will be rating all of you on your performance," Jagar said quickly, causing all of you to jump in surprise, "Anyways let's get this game on the road." With those last words Jagar quickly drew a kunai with his right hand and jumped back a few paces, leaving you and your teammates speechless and confused...
A: Run in head first
B: Tell Axel to run in and you'll back him up, he is a taijutsu specialist
C: Tell Jamie to run in and you'll back her up, she must have some good ninjutsu
D: All run in together, you all did take a taijutsu test
"Axel go get him you're best at taijutsu, we'll back you up," you say. Axel quickly nods and starts running at Jagar, he's definitely slower than you are so you and Jamie wait a few seconds before running in after him. Axel pulls an arm back and throws a punch even before he's relatively close to Jagar. "Stretchy Limb Style: Pulverizing Shot!" You and Jamie both stop running as Axel's right arm stretches and flies towards Jagar. Jagar jumps to the right, the attack missing him. Axel's arm slowly retracts back to its normal size
"I thought you were backing me up," Axel said turning to you and Jamie
"We didn't expect your arm to stretch thirty feet," Jamie says staring at Axel's arm
"Didn't I say earlier that only one of you coming at me was going to be useless," Jagar says making a few handseals, "Fuuton: Compressed Machine Gun!" All around Jagar small balls of wind began to form quickly shot in the direction of you and your teammates.
You and Axel quickly raise your arms in defense but Jamie quickly steps forward making several handseals of her own. "Katon: Roaring Flame!" Jamie quickly raised her hand to her mouth and breathed out an extreme amount of fire which acted like a shield in front of the three of you. Several of Jagar's wind bullets still pierced through the katon but the majority of them were still blocked. By the time the katon stopped Jamie was panting for breath as Jagar looked at her looking impressed. You took this chance and raced forward kunai in hand
You swung the kunai and Jagar quickly blocked with his own. The jounin quickly dropped to the ground and tripped you with a leg spin. As you fell Jagar threw a punch which you quickly grabbed and attempted to flip the man with a grappling style you had picked up on. Jagar quickly fell to the ground and you stretched to grab the bell but Jagar quickly jumped up and kicked you in the chin. You staggered backwards as the jounin came at you again. "Stretchy Limb Style: Shotgun Shot!" Jagar quickly turns into a log and both of Axel's fists stop inches from you face. You look further to see that Jagar had reappeared behind Axel. As Axel's arms begin to destretch Jagar simply kicks him in the back
"Katon: Flame Barrage!" Jamie was behind Jagar and shot several small fires that resembled feathers began to shoot at the jounin. A good deal of them hit and began to knock Jagar off balance. Now's your chance you've gotta do something
A: Use taijutsu on Jagar then try to take the bell
B: Use World Scrambler then try to take the bell
C: Use Eye Twist then try to take the bell
D: Use Sharpen (the one that increases pain) then follow with taijutsu
You quickly make several handseals and get in range to Jagar. "Eye Twist!" you exclaim as you begin to manipulate the chakra going into his eyes. Jagar swings his kunai at you but misses, barely though. The jounin then swings at Axel but this time misses by a lot. Axel looks over to you, looking rather confused as to why the jounin was acting so weird. You point to your eyes and move your finger in a circel to show that they'll be messed up for a little while. Jamie sees what you're saying and begins to do her own handseals "Katon: Fire Blast!" she says as she shoots a large fireball at the jounin
Jagar moves to dodge but gets hit by the attack and sent backwards. "We have to get the bells quickly!" you exclaim running to try and grab the bells. Jagar looks up at you as he makes several handseals. "I don't have time to breakout of your genjutsu so I'll just make sure I hit all of you with this Doton: Earth Rupture!" he said before placing his hands on the ground causing the terrain around him to shake violently and break apart. You and your comrades quickly fell to their feet and got thrown around by the violently shaking. Jagar quickly released the jutsu and put his hands together in a single handseal
"He's breaking out of the genjutsu!" you yell as you throw a kunai at Jagar. Jagar sidestepped and looked up at you with a half smirk on his face
"Sorry kid your genjutsu worked for a wee bit but still good t--" Jagar said getting cut off by the sound of a jingling bell
"Worked long enough for Ray to throw a kunai to cut the string of the bell and for me to get it while you were breaking out of said genjutsu," Axel said his right arm extended and holding on to the small bell on the string that you had cut
Jagar nodded as he looked from the bell, to Axel, to you, to Jamie. He threw his kunai on the ground and started a slow clap before finally speaking, "Congrats looks like it does look like you have what it takes to be shinobi. Your teamwork was decent enough but will need more which is why we'll be developing in the months to come. Now I have a lot of paperwork to do about the three of you so let's meet back at the same classroom tomorrow at ten o'clock. Don't eat breakfast. Dismissed..." with those final words your jounin suddenly disappeared in a cloud of smoke
"Mysterious fellow isn't he," Jamie said brushing some dust off her blonde hair that came down to her elbows. She was rather cute shorter than you and Axel, blue eyes, and wore traditional kunoichi attire. The ninjutsu that she used in battle was also pretty impressive. "Do you guys wanna go catch dinner together or something, you know more group bonding?"
"Uhhh," Axel said running his hands through his spiky jet black hair
A: Go to dinner, group bonding
B: Go home for dinner, your mother hates it when you miss dinner
C: Go to the store and stock up on tools, you are low on weapons
D: Go to the bank, you should open a saving's account sooner or later
"Dinner sounds great, I mean my mom might kill me but I'm sure she'll understand," you say before looking to Axel and raising an eyebrow, "Come on Axel it'll be fun."
"Yeah Axel let's go, I'm feeling a buffet for some variety and what not," Jamie said walking in the direction of the village, "Last one there pays..." Before you could even process the words properly Jamie was already running and Axel had taken off after her. You curse under your breath and run after your teammates. Lucky for you you're faster than the other two so after a few minutes you catch up to Axel and pass Jamie just in time to arrive at the buffet. The three of you arrive panting, still rather tired from the fight earlier, but quickly take your seats and grab various foods from the buffet
Finally the three of you sit down and begin to eat, silently and awkwardly at first until Jamie broke the silence. "So that Stretchy Limb Style of yours Axel is pretty interesting huh?"
"Yeah it's my clan's technique. It can come in handy and even makes me a little more resilient and what not," Axel said pulling on his cheek and stretching it out almost two or three times further than it should go, "And you what about those ninjutsu of yours those katons were rather impressive."
"Oh yeah my mom taught them to me. She's good a katons and my dad taught me the ropes of fuutons before he died. I'm pretty good at both of them actually," Jamie said munching on a salad, "But I can go to just about anyone in the village for fuutons it is basically this village's specialty. So Ray I was pretty impressed with that genjutsu you pulled, it's not often you see a genin that's skilled with genjutsu."
"Yeah my dad's an expert in a genjutsu and taijutsu style so he's taught it to me. Sadly I'm not to good at ninjutsu so I never got to really learn much from my mom. I don't even know my natural affinity," you say before someone else joins your table. The three of you quickly turn to see Jagar sitting down with his own plate loaded up with food
"Evening guys, fueling up after your big spar with the big mean jounin?" Jagar said putting a mozzarella stick in his mouth, "And I wouldn't worry about your affinity for now Ray, plus you are a replica of your dad so it'll probably be what his is, or what your mom's is since you do have her vigor. But if you really want to know I do carry affinity papers with me since I didn't know what I'd have to do with you kids." You're beginning to understand why your dad called him weird, he's so different one minute he's ranting about how unimportant some of the things you would have to do is, the next he's making you do those unimportant things, and now he just randomly pops up and is acting like a best friend, you really can't place your finger on this guy at all
"Do you know all of our parents sensei?" Jamie asked looking at the man carefully
"Yes I do and did," Jagar says now eating his salad rather quickly
"How's the paperwork going?" Axel asked finishing his plate
"Finished with the majority of your individual evaluation," Jagar said pointing to the backpack that lay next to his seat
A: Ask to see the affinity paper
B: Ask about what he thinks of your parents
C: Ask more about his paperwork
D: Ask about upcoming missions
E: Free Choice
"Can you tell me more about our parents?" you ask and get approving nods from the other two kids. You guys all knew the general information about your parents but still you never really saw them in action, on missions, or how they dealt with Suna politics
"Ummm sure why not. Well let's see your parents Ray, Luke and Estella Alarn. Your dad's in the jounin council and proficient at a style he developed called gentaijutsu though he does use genjutsu better, is pretty skilled at taijutsu, and knows the basics of ninjutsu with an affinity for fuutons. Because of your dad's smarts he's pretty close to the Kazekage and has a good deal of respect around the village," Jagar said taking a sip from his drink, "Estella Alarn, your standard chunin who loves her family so she doesn't go on as many missions anymore. But when she does she's really good at espionage type missions and her raiton proficiency makes her assassination moves pretty interesting she's also pretty good at several types of fuinjutsu as is your father but your mother's much better. Honestly your mom may seem all gently but on the battlefield she's fearless."
"Gentaijutsu style?" you ask having never heard of it
"Yeah your dad taught me the basics and what not once but honestly he's pretty good at it. Now Jamie Hislan child of Lidia and the late Lenord Hislan. Lenord was a jounin who specialized in fuutons but had a unique fighting style with them that differed from all the other fuuton users of the village so it earned him a lot of recognition. He was killed by one of Iwa's head jounins in a skirmish a few years back," Jagar said before getting up to get more food then returning quickly, "Now Lidia Hislan, a jounin who specializes in katon and was an ANBU member until she got pregnant with Jamie there and has now become your general fodder jounin."
"That's rude," Jamie said shaking her head disappointedly at the last comment about her mother
"Finally the parents of our very own Axel Ragnor, Jude and Jackie Ragnor the head of the Ragnor clan. Jude is a jounin of course whose a master of the Stretchy Limb Style. His perfection with the style has made him a great asset on the front line when it comes to skirmishes with Iwa. And Jackie well she's a chunin who has never really done anything really," Jagar said letting out a big sigh, "There you kids happy now."
"I guess so," Axel said putting his hands behind his back
"Good well I have to get going, gotta report to the Kazekage. Oh here's some money to pay for your lunch and what not," Jagar said settng the money down then disappearing in a puff of smoke
"Weird guy," you say feeling how full you really are right now
"What now?" Jamie asked as she gave Jagar's money to the waiter
A: Let's go home we have a long day ahead
B: Let's explore the village some
C: I'm gonna go train then sleep
"I'm going home, I'm rather curious about this whole gentaijutsu concept from my dad," you say getting up
"Don't go getting to far ahead of yourself remember we're still genin," Axel says as the three of you walk out the door together
"Well aren't we the pessimist now aren't we," Jamie laughed as she turned left on a street corner, "See you guys tomorrow." Axel waved his goodbye as he turned right and you continued down the street to your home. It takes you another ten minutes before you finally arrive home. By now everything's dark and lights liter the windows of your neighborhood and the rest of the village. You reach for your key and unlock the door going inside. You quickly move your head as a kunai flies past your head
"So you think before you're Mr Big Bad Shinobi you can skip dinner without word home?!?!" your mother's voice yells sending terror down your spinal cord, "Well Ray?!" You feel like a deer stuck in the road with a truck coming straight at you. Your father comes up behind her placing his hands on her shoulders and giving her a good shake
"Now now Estella Jagar said he was with his teammates for dinner. We have to understand that our little boy's growing up into a real shinobi," he says as your mother smiles, "Good reflexes though son. How was your first day?"
"Good we sparred with sensei then went out for dinner. Actually dad sensei told me an interesting thing about a fighting style you use, something called gentaijutsu?" you say hugging your mom who seems to have forgiven you rather quickly
"Look at that Jagar's already polluting our son's mind. That bastard. Look if anything you should learn ninjutsu like your mom I can feel it you're a natural raiton user like I am," your mother says before going upstairs
"Yeah I was gonna teach you gentaijutsu when you were ready for it but I guess I can give you the basics. Come outside," your dad says taking you to your backyard which is set up with some sparring room, "Now gentaijutsu is a style I adapted from seeing nintaijutsu back during the war. As you know I'm a genjutsu master and good at taijutsu as well. Ninjutsu is also useful but that's mainly for supplementary stuff to get room for my gen and taijutsu. Now gentaijutsu is incorporating genjutsu into taijutsu. There's various things you can do with this, one is based on a style called the Gentle Fist except instead of blocking chakra flow like the Gentle Fist Style you're just disrupting chakra flow or making it more vulnerable."
"Wait hold on so this is based on nintaijutsu like the stuff mom uses for assassinations and what not? So you are decent at ninjutsu meaning you use it inbetween just for openings?" you ask trying to take everything in
"Yes something like what your mom does. And yes I'm not to good at ninjutsu but just about average if not a little more. But back to what I was saying. By using your own chakra to disrupt your opponent's chakra flow while engaged in hand to hand combat you make them more susceptible to genjutsu because you're already making their chakra system weaker. In fact when you get to another level you'll be able to cast minor genjutsu, like the one you use to increase pain, while locked in hand to hand fighitng. I'm to the point where I can use more high level genjutsu with minor hand seals and cast it in hand to hand without the person noticing," your dad continues to explain, "On top of that I incorporate some of the seal jutsu I know and that your mother has taught me in my gentaijutsu style to lock down my opponent's chakra if not more. Honestly it's a very long process which involves a lot of knowledge about the chakra system and it takes a while to incorporate many genjutsu that are higher level than C, you have to be good at single handed seals. The seal use takes even longer but in the end it'l make your taijutsu style extremely impressive especially if you can incorporate all the above and throw in a few ninjutsu attacks to keep your opponent off balance."
You stay quiet as the lecture finishes trying to soak everything up. You know you're getting started as a shinobi but one thing you know is your goal is to surpass your dad and if you even wnat to get close it means you have to perfect hand seals, perfect your genjutsu, perfect taijutsu, learn how to use sealing arts which few know how to do, and even throw some ninjutsu on top of that. And who knows what you'll have to learn to surpass your dad after that, incorporate ninjutsu into your gentaijutsu style so that it's ningentaijutsu?! I mean this is a ton of work but still you don't want to spread yourself to thin with all of these possibilities right? All of this new knowledge and the day you just had throws your head into a frenzy and fatigue finally catches up to you. Your dad sets his strong hand on your head and ruffles your hair. "You'll get there trust me. You can ask Jagar to teach you the basics since I thought him in our war days. I'll help you fill in the spaces as can your mom if you need ninjutsu or sealing help. Trust me you'll have plenty of time but for now off to bed you have a long day tomorrow as well," your dad says pushing you back into the house
You nod as you go up to your room, making a pit stop by your parents' room to kiss your mother goodnight. Once inside your room and on your bed, you fall asleep within seconds...the next day comes with the siren that is your alarm clock. You jump up and eat a lonely breakfast seeing as your parents have already left for their business. After clearing your plate your race to the Academy, hopefully this will be one of the last days you set foot in there. Once there you see you're the last one and that your comrades are sitting around. Jagar is leaning against a desk and Jamie and Axel are looking at papers. "Ahh nice of you to join us, consider coming early next time. But anyways here's your information that I gave to the Kazekage it's based off everything I've seen and I mean every word of it," Jagar says handing you a paper, honestly you're starting to think he's bipolar one minute serious the next peppy, what the ****?!

Ray's a skilled genjutsu user especially for a genin and that's saying a lot seeing as genin are generally not very skilled with genjutsu. His hand seal use was also quick and efficient in battle and his taijutsu style mixed with his offensive and grappling taijutsu style definitely make him dangerous. His only problems come in his lack of ninjutsu skill and that his stamina is rather lacking but shouldn't be nothing to worry about. With proper training Ray will grow to be a powerful shinobi along with his cell mates, I'm happy to take the three in under my wing. Just wait Kazekage you'll see what their capable of in good time
You look at your stats carefully. Their pretty spot on for someone who you only sparred with once. You look to your comrades who are likely looking at their own reports. You could probably ask to see one of theirs and maybe just maybe get away with asking to compare everyone's stats. Or you could get some critiquing from Jagar
A: Ask to see Jamie's
B: Ask to see Axel's
C: Ask to see everyone's
D: Ask Jagar to critique your stats
"Hey sensei would it be okay if we go over my stats and everything?" you say holding up your paper to him
"Ah yeah sure why not. Well let's see here well you know you're lacking in ninjutsu in fact we'll definitely be needing to go over some of the basics because frankly you suck at them. Your genjutsu's superb for a genin I'm definitely impressed and want to see where you go with these. Your taijutsu style is good as well it needs some work but that'll come in time as you better develop your technique," Jagar says scratching his stubbly beard, "You're definitely one of the smarter genin I've seen and your battle strategy is definitely great it'll be interesting to see it on the field. Your strength well for someone who uses a mainly offensive taijutsu style it is lacking so you may want to adjust your style accordingly or hit the gym. Your speed was also pretty impressive as well. Your stamina was average for a genin but in your defense you are using mainly genjutsu which is pretty complex for a genin so that's understandable. Finally your hand seal and chakra control mastery is also impressive for a genin seeing as you can mold your genjutsu with little to no wasted chakra from what I saw. Anything else?"
"So you're saying I'm pretty well rounded for a genin?" you ask
"Yes very well rounded indeed you're about as evenly distributed as your other teammates but in a different way. Like all genin you do need improvement and you're only now beginning to develop your style so we need to begin to build on it and who knows where you'll be in the coming years."
"I see. So do you think I'm ready to develop my dad's gentaijutsu style I'm rather interested in it?"
"Hmm maybe the basics but honestly it'll take a while before you're actually able to cast some genjutsu while using a gentai style if anything you'll only disrupt their chakra and make it harder for them to use some of their ninjutsu or taijutsu or make it easier to cast your genjutsu from a distance. The seal working is also a little bit out of your league still kid," Jagar said before taking up Axel and Jamie's papers, "Don't worry it'll come with time. Tell me what did you think of your reports?"
"I'm impressed," Jamie said
"Ehh," was Axel's only response
"A bit of both," you respond
"Great! Now I have some important information for us. There's a thing called the chunin exams coming in the coming year and it would be in the best interest of Suna and make me even more ecstatic if you guys participated in them. So what happens with the chunin exams? Well you'll face vigorous tests to see if you're ready to be promoted from genin to chunin. Well you guys did just become genin so you do have a ways to go before actually participating in them and let's face it you only got started adn are no where near chunin level, yet," Jagar said as he began to pace in front of you and your cell mates
"So where is this going?" Axel finally asked
"You guys need experience. So far as a cell you've completed one C rank mission, our spar yesterday. You need more experience much of which will be pointless D rank missions but I don't make the rules. You'll also need some training to hone your skills, like I was telling Ray you guys only have the bare basics of your future styles we need to build on those basics and who knows where we'll be by the end of the year," Jagar said stopping now, "So since we are a small family we're going to be making our first family decision. I've got several missions lined up for us in the coming months but I'd also like to set around six months aside for raw training so we can hone your skills and get your styles more set in stone. So family what would we like to do for the first few months in this coming year, train first or missions first."
"So basically we can get some light field experience first then better our skills. Or we can work on our skills then get some field experience," Jamie said contemplating the idea, "I'm for training then doing missions that way we're ready for whatever we may face."
"Well you have to remember we may not even have that much field experience I was talking to my cousin who graduated from the Academy two years ago and he said he spent the entire first year doing nothing but common village chores instead of actual ninja mission. He said he got little training inbetween and well he's still a genin today," Axel responded, "I'm for missions then training because then we won't be rusty before these exams."
"Well Ray looks like you're the tiebreaker what do you think?" Jagar said grinning, "No pressure."
A: Train then missions
B: Missions then train
"I'm with Jamie we should train before we go on missions just in case and then we can get used to what we've learned before the exams," you say getting an approving nod from Jagar and Jamie while Axel lets out a sigh
"Alright perfect now we have six months to train and then we'll have about four months worth of missions before the exams. Now for your training each of you is skilled in a different area to be honest the only area where all of you are about even is taijutsu and hand seal speed. Axel is the best with taijutsu while Ray and Jamie are about even. While in hand seals Jamie's the best followed by Ray then Axel, to be fair Axel your style doesn't really use that many hand seals but still," Jagar says reviewing your papers
"But other than that I'm guessing we're completely spread out then," Axel interupts, "I mean taijutsu's my specialty, ninjutsu Jamie's, and genjutsu Ray's. On paper that looks great but it makes group training harder right I mean Jamie and I have no genjutsu skill whatsoever while Ray himself said he has no ninjutsu skill whatsoever?"
"Yeah and we all have different affinities too how is group training going to work exactly?" Jamie said
"I'm going to go over the basics in general as genin you always need practice on teh basics things like hand to hand basics, bushins, and how to Kai out of genjutsu. From there we'll build a little to fit your style like Ray may like a slightly less forceful style of taijutsu that's still effective and that he may even combine with the gentaijutsu style he wants while Axel may like a straight powerhouse style. Trust me I'm known as a jack of all trades here in Suna because I've taken to picking up on various different styles even if I have my preference," Jagar said
"Plus a month or so of team training will help build your team fundamentals and you'll learn to make up for each other's weaknesses. I'll help you guys set a foundation then for the rest of the training time I'll personally train you guys individually or have your parents help you out since you guys do seem to mirror their style," Jagar said pulling a paper out of a folder, "Here is the comparison of how our team is spread out stat wise."

"So first things first I think we're going to do some endurance training to work on your speed, stamina, and strength. From their I'll teach you guys the major things about the three main ninja regions," Jagar said grabbing something else as you and your teammates crowd aroudn the papers comparing stats. Wow you had no idea that Jagar was so well rounded you wonder what your parents' stats are on paper. "Oh to make our training easier on all of us we need to make sure everyone has their natural affinity set so..."
"I'm katon and fuuton," Jamie said
"My parents gave me the sheet of paper last night and I'm a doton," Axel said
"Ahh I'm doton, fuuton, and katon. And..." Jagar said his eyes turning to you
You just kept quite and played with your fingers, why was it so important you know your natural affinity you're not even that good with ninjutsu. Sure if you wanna do what your dad said you may need to learn a little of it. Jagar pulls your hand forward and sticks a small piece of paper. "And the paper..."
A: Ignites
B: Splits in two
C: Wrinkle
D: Turns to dirt
E: Becomes wet
The paper quickly wrinkles up in front of everyone and you look up to Jagar having no idea what it meant. "So we have a raiton user among our midst sounds like a very diverse cell. Shame I won't be able to help you out with any real elemental training but I'm sure your mother will be a great asset when it comes to that," Jagar said clapping his hands, "Now off to the training field, we have a lot of work ahead of us..."
The next month and a half was filled with rigorous training which generally started before sun up and went long after sun down. It was brutal and you got few breaks during training. On most days you arrived home, got a quick bite to eat then went immediately to sleep. But as the days went on you definitely noticed the improvement in yourself and your team. Your taijutsu skills improved and your genjutsu skills improved only slightly but your ninjutsu skills saw the biggest improvements. Not only did you learn the basics of ninjutsu manipulation but you learned to shunshin, how to use bushins, kawarimi, climb trees with your chakra, and even walk on water even if you hadn't completely mastered the latter
Your hand seal usage had also improved through the use of all of the new techniques as well. Thanks to the hell Jagar put you guys through your speed got better as did your stamina and your strength. Finally the month and a half came to a close and Jagar stood over the three of you after an intense three on one spar. He put his kunai away then slowly put his kunai away.
"Congrats you've done well and survived the past month and a half. My last two genin squads quit after a week or two, very impressive in deed. I'm so very proud of each of you," Jagar says throwing each of you a canteen, "You now begin your individual training with me and your parents and whoever else you wish to teach you. I also expect you guys to not just take it easy the entire time give your training 110%."
"I was wondering if you could help me with some of my katon manipulation as well as improve my taijutsu a little more," Jamie said as she rose to her feet
"Yeah and I want some doton manipulation as well my dad's gonna help me but he generally sticks to my clan's style," Axel said
"I don't have anything off the top of my head yet but I'm sure there'll be something," you groan as your grab your bruised arm
"All in good time then," Jagar said handing everyone pieces of papers, "Track your training routine on this please. Dismissed." After handing out the papers Jagar disappeared in a puff of smoke. You look at your teammates say your goodbyes and head on your separate ways, you guys will likely spend the next four and a half months barely seeing each other and you were so exhausted that you could barely utter a proper goodbye. When you arrived home your mom and dad were already waiting for you
"Ready for training?" your mother says cracking her knuckles causing chills to go down your spine
"But, but, but, but," you stutter knowing the real hell was beginning
"Don't worry son Jagar just asked us to make sure you're on top of your game. So how would you like to divide up your training over the next few months?" your dad says staring at you
These are the fields of training you have pick up how to divide them over 4 months and 15 days if a big settlement isn't reached I'll average them and what not
A: Raiton training
B: Genjutsu training
C: Taijutsu training
D: Seal training
E: Gentaijutsu training
F: Other: specify
And so the worst four and a half months of your life began, you had an eerie feeling it wasn't going to be the worst and that this was only the beginning, but it was worth it right? RIGHT?! Well your training gets broken down and you would spend the majority of the time with your father and only a little with your mother. You had a good plan set for yourself that you thought would be the most efficient and lucky for you "business" was keepin your dad in town and having to only go to several highly classified meetings instead of going off on major missions. Anyways hell began with...
One month strengthen your genjutsu style. You were already practical with it but devoting a full month to it really strengthened your skills in it and also aided your mental readiness since your dad put you in several of his own higher level genjutsus to not only strengthen your resistance but to help you think clearly in battle and even more stressful situations so that your genjutsu would be almost flawless and hard to detect even in the heat of battle. In the end you picked up on two new genjutsu that were rather basic: one used your raiton affinity to make people believe hundreds to maybe thousands of volts was coursing through them and the second was a lie detecting jutsu which you could use on people within a five meter radius of you and affected everyone. On top of that you came up with a new higher level genjutsu that...
A: Uses sound to make people think their being attacked from every direction
B: Uses touch to cause people to believe their pain tolerance is much higher than it is
C: Uses eye contact to cause a person to feel like their being killed
D: Has to have people look at your hand seal to believe their trapped and open to attack
The second month you spend improving your taijutsu style. Your dad teaches you a lot and you adapt his style which mainly involves you learning when to be evasive but still offensive at the same time and throwing in some grappling moves. Strength was definitely not your forte but you still manage, you also weren't that great with your stamina as several of your jutsus kind of drained you, your speed was definitely something to be proud of as it was developing rather nicely even if it had much room for improvement, but most importantly your dad made you concentrate on just executing hand seals as part of your taijutsu training since it was important in battle as well. In the end it helped your strength, stamina, and speed greatly having focused on taijutsu but what had definitely grown the most in...
E: Strength
F: Stamina
G: Speed
H: Hand Seals
After two months under your dad he said had an important mission for the Kazekage so he would be leaving you and leaving you in your mother's hands. You took this opportunity to learn about fuinjutsu or sealing arts, your dad did say it was rather important for his style and that your mother was much better at fuinjutsu than you were. As it turned out the fifteen days your dad was busy was not enough for you to learn much of any fuinjutsu. You did however learn one small technique that....
1: Seals chakra flow to a body part if you touch them there
2: Seals projectiles being launched at you so you can use them later
3: Seals low level attacks being launched at you (ie a fireball or something)
4: Seals lots of weapons, books, and everything so it's easier to carry around
Finally your dad returned, looking rather uneasy but he carried on with your training as usual. You decided to spend the last two months learning your father's gentaijutsu style. Him and Jagar, who came by to see how your training was, began to teach you how the style functioned. As it turned out it was extremely complex and took several elements of battle that you used separately and combined them, which was extremely hard. In the first month you only got as far as learning to lightly disrupt your opponent's chakra using your own, which was extremely tolling on your chakra at this point but you got the basics of it down
During the second month you began to advance your techniques a little more and using your chakra became much much less tolling on you and made your opponent's jutsu take a little more chakra since it broke their chakra control. Also depending on how you fought it made the opponent more susceptible to your genjutsu though to properly disrupt your opponent's chakra you couldn't put to much power into your attacks, which was good since you weren't all that strong. In the end it turns out the two months was only enough to get the bare basics of the style and you really couldn't implement any genjutsu at this point except for...
5: Eye Twist
6: Sharpen
7: Jutsu Fake
8: Shock Therapy (the first new genjutsu you learned)
You learned a great sound genjutsu which is used by a snapping or clapping sound which ended the hand seal sequence for this particular genjutsu. It was incredibly useful in battle and made it so your opponent was generally left open. At this point it's your second strongest and most chakra tolling genjutsu you have, second only to World Scrambler which still took a good deal of work. The downside of both of these jutsus is you had to make sure your opponent heard your or else it didn't work. You dub it Terror Barrage naming your other two new genjutsus Shock Therapy and Lie Sensor Zone
Thanks to all of your taijutsu work you did develop well in the category in all fields especially your hand seals. Both Jagar and your dad had emphasized the importance of hand seals in the gentai style. The good thing about improving your hand seals was that it shortened all of your hand seals and you were fast now to. Eye Twist only took one hand seal as did Lie Sensor Zone while most of the others took two or three with only Terror Barrage and World Scrambler forcing you to do about five. But at the speed your hands moved it made little to no difference
The time spent with your mother was definitely interesting and you learned as much as you could in such a short timespan. You did learn one fuinjutsu where you had to touch someone and you could temporarily lock down their chakra flow to that body part, working best on the forearms. It was mainly an annoying jutsu since people could just push a lot of their chakra in that direction and it would break the seal but hey they wasted their chakra there. This jutsu did take a few hand seals but was battle ready and wasn't extremely chakra taxing. You found the name Lockdown appropriate here
Finally you got the gentaijutsu basics down as best you could in two months, in fact you could already disrupt someone's chakra pretty decently to where it cost them more chakra to form their jutsus on top of that Lockdown and Shock Therapy both worked pretty well with this style. You also got to the point where you could do one hand seal extremely quickly and activate Eye Twist by either making eye contact or having the opponent look at your hands. Definitely great in battle to throw your opponents off so you could land more hits and further disrupt their chakra. In the end the entirety of the six months were really well spent and you had learned and improved a lot now it was time to fill in the experience gap with missions
During your training Jagar had set a new meeting spot for your cell at the park, one of the few nonsandy areas of Suna. Your arrived early this time and turned out you were the first one there. Jamie arrived next and Axel arrived not even a minute later. Before the three of you could converse and catch up a puff of smoke pops up and Jagar stands there with a solemn look on his face. "Look at the three of you, only six months have passed since our little family formed and you guys have grown so much," Jagar said handing everyone a packet
"So why the face?" Jamie asked glancing at the packet
"Because turns out the village is getting less and less missions. Basically we're stuck doing pointless missions such as helping around the village and doing some prep work for jounins' missions and what not," Jagar groaned, "Our first fifteen missions are in the packet you're holding
You flipped through the pages seeing the most pointless things ever: re-shingling some houses, Academy needs new light fixtures, checking guard posts for bugs, you got madder and madder as you looked at the pack. "This is bull ****!" you exclaim
"But it has to be done. The Kazekage's really busy lately and so are several other jounin and chunin but I'll see if we could possibly pick up the slack in the place of those who are missing. But that would mean actually difficult missions," Jagar said with a small grin
"I'm pretty sure putting in new light fixtures is pretty hard work," Axel said extremely sarcastically
"Hahaha. Alright guys let's get to works there's roofs to be shingled," Jagar said leading the way to a house. Apparently a big neighborhood of joint houses needed their roofs fixed and your cell was in charge of that. Jagar of course felt no need to aid you and your cell mates so you, Jamie, and Axel were all stuck on a roof in the desert heat with hammers, nails, and shingles
A: Work quietly
B: Talk about training
C: Convince them to sneak away from the mission
D: Talk about Jagar
Ray Alarn
Ninjutsu: 1
Taijutsu: 1.5
Genjutsu: 2.5
Intelligence: 2.5
Strength: 1.5
Speed: 2
Stamina: 1.5
Hand Seals: 2
Total: 14.5
