"Deneb! Good afternoon!" The girl behind the counter greeted as you walked into her shop, out of the pouring rain. Outside dreary dark grey clouds painted across the sky blotted out the weak sun that shone over the planet.
"Hey Ann, how's it going today? Doesn't look like you're too busy." You reply casually.
"Yeah, it's been slow today. Just a few regulars", she explains, wiping down her signature knife.
Nodding slowly you take a seat at the counter. It always surprised you how the genuine wooden stools supported 400 pounds of flesh and metal.
"Hey, you're not duty right now...Are you?" She asks, obviously suspicious of your untimely appearance. You usually came in the morning and night, to see her to work and back home.
"Uh...Confidential." Of course, it wasn't all that rare for you to take some time during your shift to visit the little deli, even though it annoyed her. But you did always come on the stormy days, and unfortunately those were plenty this time of year.
Suddenly raising her voice she begins her lecture, "Confidential my ass! You're supposed to be on patrol aren't you?! You know you're a cop! People look up to you and stuff!"
Putting your hand in front of your face in defense you turn away from her and groan mockingly. Her temper was just like her hair, a bright red flame.
"Wh-what the hell are you doing?"
"I can't bear the sight of one so holy!"
"Ugh, you ass. One can only wonder how you became a cop!" She shoots back in a fury.
"Pft. Yeah? One can only wonder why anyone would name you Ciel!"
"H-hey..." Ann's voice died out into a mutter. You did hit a sensitive spot. "I didn't tell you that just so you could use it to bug me!" She hated the name, because she hated her parents. You didn't dig too deep but she really resented them. You couldn't help but wonder once in a while, but everyone had bones in the closet.
"...Sorry." The two of you always seemed to fight like this, petty squabbles. Her temper always made things worse, given you weren't so innocent either. Weird how such close friends could fight like this all the time, not so weird that you could always forgive each other.
Just as you catch a glimpse of her downcast eyes she turns her back to you to pack up the meats and other edibles. It would be nice to try one of her famous sandwiches for once...
"Hey..." You mutter, calling to her.
"Ann...Hey Ann, I'm sorry."
"Hey, Ciel~" You try your best to sound charming, though the electronic buzz of your helmet never made it easy. You always called to her like that when you needed her attention.
"I know why they named you Ciel." You fold your arms and rest atop the counter. "Only you're worthy of such a beautiful name." You often spoke sweet nothings to her when alone, and you knew how it got to her.
"So you here to eat something or not?" She asks, turning around, obviously trying to hide a smile.
"Nah", you reply.
"Ugh, come on. Do you even eat?"
"You always ask that. You know I'm going to say no."
Rapping the visor of your helmet with her knuckle shes question you, "Do you never eat because you never take off that stupid armor? Or do you never take it off because you never have to eat? Let me remind you, I run a deli!" She crosses her arms and pouts. "The only thing people do here is eat!"
Waving away her hand you drop your head between your arms.
"When was the last time you took that thing off?"
"Just a while ago, before we met."
"7 years is a little while ago?" The two of you first met when you happened to move into the same apartment complex 7 years ago.
"No, 7 years is no time at all", you casually remark.
A) Stay at Ann's deli longer B) Get going and get back on duty, there was chatter about a construction drone going crazy C) Get going and visit Joseph, this one guy, to get a custom weapon D) Practice knife/CQC with Ann

"Hmph, whatever." She replies, sounding somewhat upset. "Hey, when're you going to take me to the range again?"
"Some day, don't worry about it. Just keep practicing the knife stuff okay?"
"Hah! I'm already better than you!" Somewhat true...She was actually great with a knife, maybe for good reason. "The student has already surpassed the master!"
"Sure", You sarcastically reply, rising from your slump. "I'm gonna get going."
"Good for you! Take this guy with you." She suddenly hands you a disposable plastic cup with a lid, inside a small bug crawling about. "I found the little bugger crawling around the window, could you just let him outside?"
"What, you couldn't just kill it?"
"Kill it?" She asks rather innocently.
Letting out a sigh you nod slowly, agreeing to Ann's plan. Despite her temper she was entirely pacifistic.
"Hey, you're gonna be back at night right?"
"As always." You respond as you exit the store, popping off the lid and tossing the cup to the ground.

Stopping the cruiser just outside warehouse marked "Apollon 7", you step out into the rain. The pitter-patter of the downpour seemed to drown out even your heavy foosteps as you make your way into the open warehouse. Inside someone was waiting for you; a man in a white suit waiting for you.
"How are you, Deneb?", he asks in rhetorical greeting. Joseph, a devious looking man between his slicked back blonde hair, narrow eyes, sharp chin, and thin brows. No less, he spoke with a devilishly handsome foreign accent.
"Fine, let's get this over with" you urge.
"Right, just pick the weapons you want to test."
A) Imagine engine (allows for sort of elemental magic) B) ReC, allows lesser scale manipulation of matter to create tools or equipment C) Plasma Spark, creates "golems" from loose material and gives them semi-sentience

Looking over the meager selection once or twice you settle on the wristband style item.
"Ah good, you remember the imagine engine?"
"Yeah."
"If you don't mind?" Joseph sticks his hand out, waiting for you to hand it over. Reluctantly you do, "Now go stand over there", and also reluctantly follow his command.
Standing on what appears to be a large red bullseye you weren't sure about the entire thing. "You know...I'm not sure if this is a good idea. I don't want to get this thing damaged", you say tapping the armor's chest plate.
"Nonsense! It's armor, what purpose does it serve other than to protect you?" He wouldn't know... "Get ready!"
Bracing for impact you stand widen your stance and put up your arms in defense of your face. You watch as Joseph forms a misty white light at his hands and pitches it at you, it almost looked like a snowball. Within seconds you find yourself trapped in a block of ice. Immobile, but still watching as this Joseph gathers a ring of fire at his hand. You could only grimace as the fire washed away the ice and torched you, it felt like you were getting pressure cooked.
"This is the last one! Really!" You weren't convinced.
Just brushing off the soot and ash you tank a sudden bolt of lightning to your chest. Almost staggered you keep your footing, but suddenly a volley follows, striking every part of your body, forcing you to your knees.
"Okay, I lied! This is the last one!"
A wispy darkness seemed to emanate from his hands, almost like ashes. You never expected something like this; you were being forced down to your knees, quite literally. It was gravity control, something you hadn't seen in ages upon ages.
With you on your hands and knees, "Don't worry, I won't make it too intense!" he sarcastically remarks; he was really putting the pressure on.
Nevertheless, with some effort you rise to your feet. "Enough."
Looking surprised Joseph backs off and releases the gravity well around you. "I guess it still needs some fixes", he remarks, taking off the device to fondle it.
"No, it's fine."
Upon handing it over he informs you, "It takes some imagination to use you know. That's why it's called the imagination engine."
"Sure. And this thing is going into mass production?"
"Indeed my good friend."
"Selling to the Union and the Governing Coalition?"
"Hahaha, how else would my company make money?"
"You know your company is headquartered on a neutral city? Right?" You ask rhetorically.
He only gives you a sly smirk. "Well go ahead, try it out! Bring out, the dummies!"
At his command several crash test robots assemble at the bullseye, waiting for to be wrecked.

Counting what Pyro said, lightning won.
"No need to be rese-"
Raising your hand you summon the power of LIGHTNING! Branches of white streaks of electricity burst from your outstretched hands, quite literally blasting the dummies into oblivion. With pieces of flesh and muscle stand in dropping down from the air with wet smacks, you turn to Joseph, who clears his voice and straightens his tie.
"Well. Clearly it is a good match for you."
"You're sure it's okay for you to sell this to me?"
"Sell? No no, it's a gift! For all the testing you've helped us with, it's the least I could do."
"I see, appreciate it. Is that it for today?"
"Not quite, I have one more gift for you. This one, I demand you take."
Rummaging through a crate Joseph pulls out a long case and sets it on a nearby table.
"This is..." Revealing the contents of the case he finishes, "A prototype rifle."
"And you're giving it to me?"
"Well, it's a failed design." You quickly look it over, a long boxy design with handle and grip on the side oddly enough. Along the entire bottom was some sort of blade, practically longer than the rifle itself. "What's that?" You motion at the undermounted weapon.
"Why that's a bayonet!"
"But..."
"A bayonet!"
"That can't-"
"A bayonet..."
"Right. Well, why is it a failed design?"
"Well, it overheats, but you seem to have no problem with heat in that tin can of yours."
"I get it."
"Try it out!"
"No need. I'll see you later Joseph, thanks."
"Indeed."
Returning to the cruiser you toss the rifle, case and all, in the back. "Requesting all available units! Under heavy duress on Watership West Avenue!" Huh, sounded kinda serious. Then again, people didn't really expect much from you anyway. Maybe instead you could go pick up a more conventional weapon...Something bigger than the puny pistol they issued...and safer than that defect. Maybe go back to Ann's place or go home and call it a day. "Oh wait..." Checking the date it was the third of April, a few days before Ann's birthday. There was that... "OH MY GOD! IT'S CRUSHING-" static.
A) Go check out the police SOS B) Go to a weapons shop for something new C) Go to Ann's D) Go home E) Go get Ann a present F) Free choice

Letting out a tired sigh you put the vehicle into drive and take off. The streets were mostly empty, just a few cars going up and down; most people did stay in during storms, it was safer that way.
"Turn left in 50-" A loud crash cuts off the navigation system and you instinctively stop immediately as a cloud of grey blows up from a building down the street. A large quadripedal mech leaps out into the street from the wreckage, shaking up the entire area. Even though the car was hovering a foot or so above the ground you could feel the trembling through the air. "Well...damn." That wasn't exactly what you were expecting...It looks more like a giant tiger than an actual machine, given it was a shiny cold grey. A laser seemed to hit the surface of the car's windshield, expanding out into a line and phasing through the glass. It was scanning you...
In an instant it begins charging at you full speed, probably only a few seconds away running like that!
A) Go for the rifle
B) Use the lightning move (you guys have a name for it? or should I?)
C) Go for the pistol
D) Bust out of the car right away
E) Wait for it to come to you so you can manhandle it

Grabbing the rifle from the back you turn just in time to ready your attack. With an outstretched hand you will the lightning to burst from your fingertips. Unfortunately your plan backfires and the lightning rebounds throughout the cruiser before turning the reinforced windshield of your police cruiser into half plasma, half dust and shooting out. You feel the jolt run through the armor and throughout the body, the last thing you see is the machine hitting the front of your car before you shut down.
"Hey, wake up man! Deneb! You alive in there?! Can't you guys get this thing off of him?" Someone was hammering his fist on your chest plate. Finally stirring, you latch onto his wrist and push it away.
"It's me, Roy!" Who th- oh...That one guy... "You were out cold man! Something overheated when that thing hit your cruiser but man you're lucky to be alive!"
Sitting up your eyes shoot from corner to corner, taking in your surroundings. It was still the street, except it was dark, still raining unfortunately, harder than before even. It did look like they didn't even try to set up a plasma tent or anything.
"Man! The inside of your car was melted! It was like...It was melted onto you! They had to use laser chisels to get it off! Damn! If it weren't for that tin can of yours you'd be de-"
"Roy."
"Huh?"
You get up from the ground and simply walk away.
---
The armor...the life support... It was damaged... You'd have to try and fix it somehow, though that seemed unlikely. It seemed to be in working condition for the time being though. Maybe Joseph or someone in his company would have an idea. Maybe there was something at your storage place that could help too. But looking at the clock it was already past 11PM. Ann usually closed at 10 but sometimes she liked to wait for you if you were a bit late. With a few thoughts you brought up the communication device built into your armor, calling Ann's handheld on speed dial. "Deneb?!" She sounded frantic. "Oh my god! Your cruiser! It was on the news! I saw that...thing crash into your cruiser! I thought you were dead!"
"Nah, I'm alright. Are you still at the store?"
"No, I'm outside the police barrier around there."
"Oh."
"Where are you? You're okay right?"
"Like I said, I'm fine. I'm nearby-
