One of your clones leaps over to your parents side. "I'm fairly confident I can win this- I already fought the fox in the future, and I've improved my knowledge and techniques since then, so I'd ask for you two to just stay on guard and evade until all is said and done. There's a lot I could use your help with on the outside." Your clone tells them over the next couple of jumps, and though Minato frowns heavily he nods his head and wraps an arm around Kushina.
He pulls out three of his modified kunai and scatters them to the other large corners of the dried out sewer with perfectly aimed throws, ready to warp to any of them at a moments notice to keep himself and Kushina safe.
You yourself attack the Kyuubi head-on while that is happening. Your large Rasengan is surrounded by several smaller versions, all suffused with the power of your Senjutsu chakra, and as expected the tails rush forward to block the deadly assault when it gets too near.
The swirling, drill-like motion of the technique very nearly gets the job done all to its own, though-- the power behind it and the chaotic vortex of energy manages to cut through two of the tails brought forth and the fox scrambles in-place to rotate away before any more damage can be wrought from the assault.
You leap forward and rip the small chunks of yang chakra from the severed tail tips and absorb it into your own body, amplifying the energy and power available at your disposal.
The Kyuubi roars at the instantly felt loss of power to its form and slashes the remaining tails through the air for a counter of wind scythes slicing through the air not only at where you are, but the nearest areas you could jump to, and you swiftly slip one hand into your jacket and draw out a scroll even as you jump back for another second of time.
You get it as three clones appear and blunt the nearest scythe, slowing it further before it can reach you, and by that point you've already readied the scroll and performed the hand-seals needed; with the scroll spread out before your outstretched arms, you catch the wind chakra and trap it within the scroll like Jiraiya once mentioned doing with fire chakra.
The other scythes crash harmlessly into the background as you lower the sealing scroll with a wide grin, which more or less vanishes at the black ball converging in the jaws of the fox- a Bijuu Dama.
You hadn't progressed in fuinjutsu to a degree that could capture that level of chakra, and you don't think your speed is enough to dodge once it is released.
"Alright," you say and raise both hands over your head, concentrating. Fifteen clones materialize around you and repeat the motion, leaning their hands together toward yours, before the fox sinks lower over the front hands and the tails push forward, the red eyes narrowing violently as the ball in its mouth shrinks tighter; a heartbeat later and it explodes across the distance toward you and the clones.
In your own gathered hands a smaller sphere of black yang chakra and minimal yin swirls almost sluggishly at the heart of dozens of Rasengan, utilizing what you have of the other beings power, and together you release the Counter-Bijuu Dama.
The two beams crash together with the colossal force of a meteorite touching ground; the sewerscape shudders and the backlash of wind destroys the clones, putting the strained effort to keep it going on you alone. Your horizontal eyes thin even further into flat slits as your feet dig into the ground, and the rush of energies dig a trench beneath where they meet.
You can feel your hands trembling from the effort of controlling it, and the scroll with the sealed scythe of wind chakra clatters to the ground at your feet, nearly breaking your concentration as your eye flickers toward it for a half a second.
The wall of energy surges toward you again another few feet, and you can feel the hum of power in the air. Getting hit might not kill you flat out, but it would sure as hell knock you unconscious from the pain.
After another moment your arms begin to tremble as much as your hands, and you grit your teeth before a flash of yellow appears in your peripheral vision and then your gaze blurs before refocusing from another angle-- and Minato drops you to the ground, having used his Hiraishin to warp to your and drag you out from behind the lost struggle.
The beam impacts with the back of the wall with such an explosive force that you feel your stomach and mind churn painfully, spitting up a mouthful of blood across the floor.
"Naruto!?" both your parents exclaim in concern as you wipe your mouth off on one sleeve. For a few seconds you stay there and catch your breath, feeling like something hot is clawing away at your gut where the seal is represented on your physical form, and the Kyuubi pants warily from where it is still hunched over.
"Gotta... finish this..." you trail off and push back up from your hunched over position, gripping your hands into fists to stop them from shaking. "Thanks dad..." you add before leaping forward again.
You've tried ninjutsu to overcome the fox, and failed rather sharply. If it weren't for your dad snagging you in time, you'd probably be unconscious and heavily wounded.
"Right, time to prove I gained something from the ruins of Uzishiogakure," you state wearily as the fox finally turns in your direction, unzipping your jacket and flicking it open- revealing several scrolls tied therein and the other fuinjutsu you've picked up from that time frame.
The Kyuubi growls furiously from across the distance, but it doesn't try and summon the power for another Bijuu Dama. Instead it takes a moment to gather itself and then launches forward again, intending to crush you with its superior physical mass.
Your hands pull out the first scroll you had prepared days ago for when Yamato was supposed to be here to help, mostly at the Hokage's suggestion.
It contains... A. Four-Corner Sealing Barrier; temporarily re-seal the Kyuubi into a scroll, buying time until you lock it up again behind the gate(Failure to tame/defeat the Kyuubi, no Rikudo Mode, one tech gained from Minato/Kushina).
B. Chakra Draining Seal; used to help draw out the Kyuubi's chakra as you Sage Jump around and generally try to wear it down by attrition(Battle continues).
C. Dead Demon Consuming Seal; used by a clone(and/or Minato/Kushina) to take away another portion of the Kyuubi's chakra, and seal the rest directly into you(1/4th of remaining Yang fox chakra, weakened Rikudo Mode, one tech gained from Minato/Kushina).
D. Other(describe).

As the fox nears your own eyes go into jagged crosses, and the scar-like whiskers etched over your cheeks flare as you channel some of the left over chakra taken out of the tails and not fully immersed into your previous assault.
You can feel a faint connection with the tailed beast and sense it's flicker of surprise before you kick off from the ground and surge forward.
It roars in defiance of your intentions as you land and leap again, the scroll held between your lips as your hands begin the first motions of the required hand-seals to activate it.
A half dozen scythes of wind converge toward you- you counter with one of those ridiculous super sized Rasengan's that half-worked in the original battle, driving it forward and destroying them as well as carving a burnt hole into the side of the Kyuubi before it can avoid.
A split second later and you drive the scroll up against the Kyuubi's flesh, your hands flashing through the seals again, and you duck beneath its sweeping slash and kick off harshly in another enhanced leap.
The fox claws at the scroll to no avail as you feel your own energy levels rise a fraction, and push down the urge to grin. The more of it's chakra you take in the easier it will be to maintain this dual-usage of Sage Mode and tailed beast power.
If you had only thought to try and sign the contract with Gamabunta again, it might in theory be possible to summon the giant toad for aide-- you'd have to find out later if it would even be possible.
The Kyuubi seems to grow more determined to gut you as it abandons the effort to get the scroll off and rushes forward, then suddenly adjusts its angle as you land and jump again-- coming straight at your new position as if it knew where you were going to move to!
Your repeated ninjutsu barely slows it down as the Kyuubi twists and bats it aside with four of the tails, driving forward on its toes and catching you in the air as soon as you jumped again.
One hand wraps tightly around your body and attempts to crush you into a flat paste, and even with your arms extended and knees bent at the last half-a-second, the overwhelming strength in its hand is backed up by the second surrounding it.
Crap! I can't get any scrolls or even-- what the hell am I wasting time like this for? I don't need hand-seals! you think sharply, berating yourself for hesitating as another multitude of clones materialize in the air-- on the fox's form.
They each have the same scroll tucked in between their teeth and, to a lesser degree, the same blend of chakras reflected in their appearance, the Rasenshuriken flickering into existence over the next second.
For another flicker you feel the surprise it shows before losing the connection as the tails swing around and crash into it's own shoulders trying to destroy your doppelgangers-- several do die in a rush of smoke, but in their place several more chakra draining scrolls have been activated and attached.
Your pained grimace from holding back both hands shows a shadow of a grin at the boost of energy. You instantly channel it into your power as the others drive their assault forward despite being swept around and dissipated easily, obscuring its vision for another moment.
You take that instant and release the henge, shrinking back into your proper size for this time period and dropping down as the hands crash together uselessly above your head, and as you land your body is back into the older form again with a Planetary Rasengan coming together at your thoughts.
Unfortunately, the Kyuubi has caught on that thought translates into materialization, with no need for build up, seals, or anything else that would slow the both of you down in the outside world-- a fully prepared and condensed black sphere is gathered within it's jaws as you land and glance up.
"!" too startled to even curse the timing of its thoughts you thrust the assault up as more chakra is stolen from the fox, and your two ninjutsu collide at even more destructive point-blank range.
The drilling-swirls of the multiple Rasengans gives you roughly half a second of breathing room, and rather than try and escape from beneath it, you thrust your other hand up and release another conjured Bijuu Bomb of your own, with far more power flowing into it now that you're directly connected together.
The pressure in the air claws at the two of you, renting holes in your clothing and cutting through flesh slowly but surely, sending your blood dripping and then trickling to the floor before being swept away in the hurricane of power.
! Another thought crops up as you struggle to hold off its attack and keep your own going, and around you a few more clones appear behind the fox, rapidly going through the motions of the scroll and driving them into the tails again before they are noticed.
Your flesh heals fractionally, enough at least to keep from revealing muscle and bone, as you draw on more of its power, and then go for the kicker-
The second and, almost as soon, third Bijuu Bombs drill into the Kyuubi's jaws from behind you as the two clones form. It takes some of the power you have away, and your healing temporarily ceases, but the combined effort of three does what one alone could not.
The fox is driven back and swept up into the same chaotic, annihilatical torrent of power that it had unleashed earlier in the fight, and you can feel the sudden end of chakra flowing into you from it as the scrolls are wiped from the mindscape.
The rage engulfed howl emanating out of its maw as flesh is rent aside and muscle flayed open within the range of the combined attack is terrifying in intensity, and you feel your head swim from blood loss and the echo.
After several seconds the pitch begins to wane and drop until, as it finally dies off to a pitiful growl, the swirl of energy finishes and fades away, leaving the Kyuubi looking like it had been chewed upon by a thousand vultures-- or perhaps swept up by Amaterasu for a time.
Blood gushes out to soak the ground around it and you barely manage to step close enough to grip the skeletal tail nearest and pull with what remains of your own strength and energy.
It tries to put up a struggle to little avail. Its form has been ruined for now and you don't give it the chance to recover rapidly, gripping the bone and forcing your own chakra to take and rip at its own.
After another few seconds a secondary, ethereal imitation splits off from the healing form, and you tug all the harder; and then it comes free, even as a gnarled and decayed-looking hand reaches around to grasp at it too slowly.
You crash into the ground some distance away as its chakra flows throughout your body and instantly begins to sew up the holes in your flesh, replenishing blood loss quicker due to the lesser wounds sustained to your form. When it finishes up you once more feel the brilliant glow of power that had once formed within you eight or so years down the road, the swirl of yang chakra absolutely fantastic.
Grinning widely now you stare at its barely recovering body, looking straight into one red disk confidently, and leap up onto the snout knowing it can not possibly harm you now. A twist of your fingers within the seal on your belly conjures the same more serious torii blockades to pin the Kyuubi to the ground-- even though you are confident it can't harm you, it might be able to tear the chakra back out at such range.
Still standing on the slightly swifter healing snout, you say, "I offered you another way out of this, Kyuubi. We could have been partners like Bee and the Eight Tailed Ox-- I don't understand why you didn't want to at least try to work something out, but that will come some day." Just before you jump over to your parents side you bow your head, adding, "I still hope we can work things out, but until then... thanks."
Before it can snarl anything or otherwise react you've already vanished and reappeared by your mom and dad again, smiling quite widely.
Minato isn't quite sure what to make of your form, but your mom rapidly strides forward... and hits you over the head, complaining about stupid risks and how close you came so often to dying. Then she hugs you, and to your surprise and her own, her form seems to glow a little brighter when she pulls away.
"Naruto... what you've done... I'm impressed as much as I am happy, but at the same time, I agree with your mother; we sealed ourselves, what we had left to give, in here to help you when the time came." Minato says to you firmly. "Admittedly, that time was... sooner, than expected." He adds.
You just grin further, if a little sadly. "I'd like to explain why all this happened now, when I'm about eight and half, but I know you both have limited supplies of energy to remain around, and Madara is still out there preparing to gather up the other Jinchuriki through Akatsuki. I need to know..."
A. Flying Thunder God Technique(eventual progression to Space–Time Barrier.
B. Chakra Chains(eventual progression to Chakra Chains Barrier).
C. How to retain their current forms within his mind(IE. re-seal them for future advice).

"I need to know how to keep you both alive longer. There's so much knowledge the both of you have, both of your own lives and that could have helped the world the first time I fought Madara, and I won't ever get the chance to talk with you again after this if I can't find a way to preserve you!" You explain quickly.
Minato sighs even as he shakes his head, looking to Kushina. "There's only so much time available, Naruto. We weren't meant to stay in here forever-- though, looking on the bright side, that would be far preferable to the fate the rest of me is suffering inside the Shinigami with the Kyuubi's Yin half." He says neutrally.
Your mother frowns and tries to come up with anything from her old village of fuinjutsu that might be helpful to extending their dwindling life-chakra. "Unless you could tie us permanently until your system, like your father did when he sealed the Kyuubi into you..." she trails off uncertainly.
Your eyes glance over to the empty cage, across from where the Kyuubi is bound by torii gates, and your fingers idly cross over the seal on your belly. Minato glances between them as well.
"It could work if you continually supplied our forms with energy- and not a marginal amount, either. The Kyuubi is self-sustaining for the most part, and with the Yang chakra now flowing through you from it..." he pauses, then nods his head.
"This is going to be very shady, Naruto. I can't guarantee it'll work, but with a couple of modifications to the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style, it might be possible to make a firmer connection in place between the four of us-- Kushina and myself through the Kyuubi to you back into us in a manner of speaking. You won't be able to fully draw out the power of your new form, but... I'm willing to try." He says.
Kushina agrees, smiling a little weakly at the corners. "Okay- and afterwards, I can explain what is going on in better detail. Its worth the loss of power-- I have more than enough at my disposal like this, and with the two of you backing me up, I don't have anything to worry about!" your own smile is wide and quite excited for the chance to actually sit down and talk with your parents for more than a few minutes like the first time around.
---
Your Apartment, five hours later Your stomach feels a little taut if pained as you open your eyes, an immense weariness apparent in the slack around your eyes. The process isn't perfect given the limited time to set it up, but you plan to go back in later and try to readjust it again to something more stable.
Your thoughts on the subject are quickly pushed aside at what greets your blue gaze a few moments later; carnage. Your apartment is torn apart by ethereal claw marks, shredding your couch, table, even shorn right into the floor and ceiling overhead!
You notice that Yamato is crouched warily across from you with a multitude of fully blossomed trees where what might have been wooden beams and slats around his body and running along your walls, and next to him in full battle armor is the Hokage himself.
His eyes soften at the fatigued expression on your face, but his own expression is a grim one. "What did you think you were playing at, Naruto?" he questions sharply.
You lean up and rub at the headache that surges to your attention, feeling... off. Surely the modified seal, leaching chakra from you and the fox to your parents isn't taking that much away from your health?
He taps his adamantine staff to the ground in a show of his concern as much as his irritation. "Sorry, old man Hokage." You say after another moment or two.
"I didn't think going through with your direct help would endear the Kyuubi to me any, being shunted about and twisted by the Firsts chakra again, so I kinda made up my mind to try a few hours earlier than we agreed on." You tell them.
He gives you an disapproving look and you hasten to keep going.
"I've already- er... had some practice runs, getting a feel for its killing intent and tail assault," you say with a short glance to Yamato, not sure if he's been told the truth of things in preparation for your inevitably display of power in the mindscape.
The Hokage catches on quickly enough. "Go on," he says without answering the unspoken question.
"I met my parents, and with their help I was able to wear it down and dodge long enough to bind it in place and tear it's chakra out. I've got it locked up in a more secure system devised by dad." You lie flat out until you can properly explain things to the older shinobi alone.
"Do you have proof of this?" he asks. You nod, concentrating and suddenly glowing as the Rikudo Mode awakens. It definitely isn't as powerful as it was in the future, but you can deal with that.
The trees glow and grow a little more in response, and he gestures once for you to stop after another few seconds. When you return to normal you feel more exhausted than before, though.
"Very well. At least you didn't die, Naruto, and for that I am thankful. But," he taps the staff against the floor again before slinging it over his shoulder and into position there, "it would be very much appreciated if you did not take such a chance without any protection or consideration to your fellow villagers. The damage to the floor carries on to the walls as well, and if it were not for Yamato-san arriving when he did, you may very well have seriously injured or even killed your neighbors." He reprimands you gravely.
You nod your head. His disappointment in you unsurprisingly hurts, but you did what you had to do and at least it worked out. You're better prepared to tackle Nagato now than before, and the knowledge you gain from your parents will balance out the loss of power.
Yamato's fingers move and cancel out the summoned ninjutsu about your place, revealing thick rents along them as well, and with a wary look in his dark eyes he turns and retreats through the door- which is probably the only area of your apartment that hasn't been damaged in some way.
The Hokage remains. "I'd like a fuller account of things tomorrow after you've rested, as it's already approaching dusk, and your word in addition that you won't go off and do something so foolhardy again anytime soon." He says quietly.
You nod. Your body is hungry, thirsty, and sleepy, and you hope that you'll feel better about your decision in the morning.
He hesitates for a moment more before turning and leaving the apartment as well.
End of Part A of Arc II Rewards netted: Rikudo Mode(80%), semi-permanent link to Minato and Kushina and availability to talk with them at any point.
We'll begin Part B, the Second Month, in the next few weeks. We may also get started on the next Gaiden Arc in the meanwhile, once the Katon Poll concludes.
Thanks for all the votes, guys!

Arc II, Part B One day later, Hokage's Office
"... and now they're tied into the seal," you finish explaining, swallowing somewhat dryly after giving the Hokage a rather thorough account of the situation.
The elder shinobi has a look in his eyes that you find worrying - almost as if his old age is catching up to him, worse than ever before. Nevertheless, the pipe sticking out of his mouth puffs at even intervals, and he sighs quietly before leaning toward you and drawing it out.
"Remarkable. Truly remarkable," he says softly. "If there was any doubt before, there can be none of it now that your father was - is, rather - a fuinjutsu genius."
You nod your head. Even studying what you could for years, gathering the scant resources that survived in the ruins of Uzushiogakure, what he and your mom had discussed as they ran the process through left you with a headache trying to keep up.
That they were now a semi-permanent attachment, conscious just the same as the kyuubi, meant that you could hopefully learn some of their knowledge and put it to good use in the coming months.
The Hokage meets your gaze for a moment, giving you the feeling that he is trying to see through you, but when he speaks again the expression is serious and most assuredly focused.
"You took an unnecessary chance, Naruto, gambling the safety of the village on the odds that you could defeat the Nine Tails on your own - and though we have already been over this yesterday, I feel it necessary myself to remind you of the fact to curb any other thoughts racing through your mind." His voice is not cold, precisely, but it is hard.
You swallow dryly again, this time at the tone, but still feel like bristling to defend yourself, just a little.
"I would not call it entirely a gamble, sir" you counter mildly. "I knew that I had two other allies I could rely on in my mind, and two that were well versed in the matter. I also knew what did, could, and does work in the matter of fighting the fox there."
The lines around his eyes tighten. Then he answers.
"In your mind. Do you forget already the damage that was rendered against your apartment? If it were not for Yamato arriving early, reacting to an uneasy instinct as he told me, than you would have the blood of civilians on your hands."
That you can not counter. You hadn't precisely known what might happen to your body on the outside as you fought against the Nine Tails, but given that B and the Eight Tails had taken you to a well-out-of-the-way remote location for the first attempt several years from now, you should have given it a little more thought.
Before you can speak up he continues, however.
"I can not endorse your reasoning or your actions, Naruto, but the results, given that no lives were lost in the process, may turn out to be worth the risk. Next time, if there should ever be a next time, I expect you to stop and hesitate before forging ahead."
I'm not in trouble? You think in surprise, blinking up at him.
As if reading your mind, the old shinobi released a single dry laugh.
"Hah, I think not. This village believes that there are currently two of you - the actual eight years old you, and some long-lost elder brother, given your henge roaming about with Hanzo. I think a month of E-rank chores, normally reserved for the fresh-faced Genin, will do you another good lesson and give plenty of time to think about the consequences of your choices," he explains over a minute.
"A... a month?!" You exclaim when he's finished, old memories of the tortures of E and D-ranked missions cycling back to the front of your mind as if they had just been done a few days before.
"Surely you don't want to torture my parents as well!" You add, thinking quickly.
The old Hokage meets your gaze again levelly. "I am sure that Minato and Kushina will understand the importance," he answers. "And that they have other ways to occupy their time, also."
A moment later you understand the meaning behind his words, and feel suddenly ill.
A dim shouting from the bottom of your mind echoes in your ears, as if one of your parents - probably your mom, come to think of it - vehemently denied any such accusations, but the grimace is already set into your expression.
"Anything else, sir?" You ask almost flatly.
He lets out another few puffs on the pipe before answering, apparently in a moderately good mood again. "That is all, Naruto. Good luck."
Dismissed, you turn around and dive down the stairs the moment you can, heading for the wretched assignment desk - if you have to do this, you intend to get it done now.
And he never said you had to do this without any clones, regardless of if that would defeat the purpose of it at all.

Thanks, guys.
I'd need to double check my genjutsu, but as I understand it, so long as the technique in question is only cast on the outside and not on the mindscape as well, they shouldn't be affected by it. I don't recall if Kurama was ever influenced by genjutsu that Naruto fell for.
Will continue the last chapter over the coming hours.

A day late and a dollar short...
---
Technically speaking, E-rank missions were the same as D-rank missions as far as the official records labeled them, but the main difference that stood out was that they were often the most unpleasant, time-consuming, labor-intensive options available within the village.
You had heard rumor that even ANBU were once assigned a particular E-rank mission when they failed in the field - Uzumaki Duty, the sole task of keeping an eye on you and insuring your former antics failed to endanger the general public growing up.
Given the level of pranks you used to pull, that had supposedly spread to covering the damages you did end up rendering, too, as an additional punishment for not stopping you in the first place.
Regardless of the truth of the matter, the receptionist behind the desk only blinked and examined you for a moment after hearing your orders from the Hokage, then she turned around and drew out a particularly thick folder from the ranking cabinets.
Maybe if I henge all of the clones, no one will ask any questions, you think grimly as she begins to pull out a handful of individual sheets and stack them together.
By the time she has reached the end of the folder, a quarter-inch high stack rests before you, and your expression has truly soured - this could take your well more than a month!
Reaching out and snatching up the first five missions, you head for the door.
What missions should you work toward for the next month? A. Heavy lifting and such, ending with repairing the Hokage Monument; increase in physical strength and stamina by the end.
B. Non-standard physical labor, such as giving taijutsu lessons at the Academy or attending to various noble clan's properties; tenacious friendship established with two of the students(your future team members are chosen now).
C. Send out clones to do a little of everything and focus your actual time on working with Hanzo for the siege against Amegakure; better chance of success by training with him early on and establishing a foundation of trust.
D. Send out clones to do a little of everything and focus your actual time on learning from your parents; either progression toward FTG or Chakra Chains(will aide in dominating other Bijuu).

This is actually a tough decision. Well, let's go at it systematically.
A: Not worth it. Just an increase of strength and stamina. The only good profit would be that you obeyed the Hokage's rules to the letter.
B: Could be worth it. Making friends will be essential. The more allies the better. And we could probably make the Konoha 11 actually powerful.
C: Sounds pretty good. Amegakure will be one tough arc, and we'll want every chance we got to up our chances.
D: It's okay, but I don't think we really need it.
So either B or C........Hmmmm..........Voting B. Seems kinda selfish, but I think we can handle the consequences.
