Intending to continue the story within 2 days. It will change perspective for the sake of plot and I'll retcon some things for progression.

Hm...time to go to work, you suppose. After getting the breakdown from Valerie, everyone knew what they had to do in the meantime. A few days earlier, you had learned that things were about to go south very quickly with the Kage Summit. Now the day had come, and you nearly feel overwhelmed with the information coming in. "..." With Joshua leaving on his own mission, Noriko was to stay where it was safest with the Mistress until it was time for her to appear. You decided to take on the heavy work, which most likely meant taking on a lot of enemies at once with no time for rest. "Be careful, Hannah. I don't want to see you hurt, okay?"A smile comes to your face at that memory. Joshua...he was always so good to you, no matter what. You had to make sure that you weren't reckless and made it back in one piece, if only for his sake. You start out, the grassy plains clashing against the dreary, grey skies as you near Kennedy Port once more. "Ah...?" In the distance, you can see several armed soldiers running towards the small settlements on the outskirts. Moving quickly, you cross the gap and stand your ground as they make their way closer. There are people panicking behind your position...you wonder if you can protect them all. No, not a question...you had to protect them all. That was the end of it. "Here I go..." The wind feels cool against your skin, and you feel your boots dig firmly into the earth below. All set... --- Perspective Switch: Hannah Kuiper Ninjutsu: 8 Taijutsu: 10.5 Genjutsu: 8.5 Intelligence: 9 Strength: 10 Speed: 9 Stamina: 9.5 Seals: 7 Total: 71.5/80 Element Level - Fire 4.5/5 - Water 3/5 - Earth 2/5 - Lightning 5/5 - Wind 5/5 --- Weapon Equip a) Endeavour (diamond-bladed sword, +power) b) Death Star (overdriven beam katana powered by chakra, +speed) c) Other (+ ) d) None --- Reaction a) Charge b) Wait and counter c) Stop and defend --- Jutsu Assist 1. "Water Release: Hidden Mist Jutsu!"
You manage to create a thick barrier of mist between yourself, the people, and the attackers. Just as you thought, nothing but fodder.
Looked like it was time to make your move. You draw your weapon and surge chakra into it; it was called a 'beam katana' and was developed by both Noriko and Valerie.
Valerie had some working plans already, and Noriko capitalized on them to make your new weapon.
A normal beam katana should have a receptacle (or head) at the top to create a closed loop system, but the power that this would emit with your level of chakra would possibly destroy it. Therefore, some of the chakra from the activation goes into creating a force-based system, in where you use your own energies to 'close' the loop and give the blade some definition.
Well, that was Noriko's explanation. Whatever it was like, you just needed it to work, and work it did. A crackling, black beam of chakra shot upwards from the metal hilt, extending exactly one and one third meters. Noriko had insisted on that exact length - you didn't know why and didn't really care that much in the end.
You shunshin forward, memorizing the positions of the attackers before going straight for them. At the least, your weapon was quite clean in its killing strokes, cauterizing wounds instantly with the laser-like heat coming from the blade. You count at least fifty taken out before you lose track of the rest.
The objective was to keep them away from the people nearby and the town just a while away. There was a chance that some had just run through while you were attacking, but Kennedy Port had its fair share of warriors, and they could take care of themselves.
There's movement behind you, hurried steps. Problem was, you couldn't tell which side they were on...
"Hm..."
Well, what did you do in this situation?

You easily slice the head off of the one charging towards you, and you note that it was an enemy attacker...just as you thought.
"Time to get moving again."
Surging forward, the rest of the soldiers fall quickly as you weave between them, slicing them cleanly in two with your beam katana as you pass. None of them were any match for you, but...
"...Is there someone stronger ahead?"
A loud explosion from Kennedy Port reaches your ears, and you can see a fireball rise up from one section of the town, thick black smoke trailing it. Had the fighting started already? Damn!
With a swift turn, you start towards the port town. The sound of something slicing through the air reaches your ears, and you lean sideways to barely dodge a long, segmented tail as it shoots at you. A faint smell reaches your nose as it passes by, sickly sweet yet somehow menacing.
"Poison," you mutter in conclusion, turning to the source of the attack. A man wearing black robes with red clouds on them.
Akatsuki.
His back had a large hump in it, and there was a piece of cloth hanging over the lower part of his face. A bamboo hat hides the rest of his features with its wide, circular brim.
"Hannah Kuiper," he says in a low voice. "I was told that you would be in the area, and sure enough..."
"..."
There was no point in answering him right now. Not unless he had information that could be useful to you.
"You're behind this. I'll stop you," you say coldly. A chuckle comes from the mystery man, his 'tail' swaying back and forth.
"I'd like it...if you would come and try."
Holding the katana tightly, you take your battle stance and give him your full attention. Something seemed to suggest that there was more than met the eye when it came to this fellow.
Either way...it was time to dance again.

Alright. Just let me know when you're caught up. And any criticism on the story in general (plot, pacing, skill system, etc.) would be appreciated.

"Here we go." You quickly make the handseals for the Hidden Mist jutsu, covering the area in a thick fog. Your opponent can no longer see you through the mist, and you were pretty sure that he didn't have a Sharingan or anything like that... Sensing his chakra, you notice that it's concentrated in an impossibly small area. That didn't make sense, but you could deal with it later on if needed. You quickly use a shunshin to close the gap and bisect your opponent before he could figure out what was going on. "Tch..." You can feel him behind you, and you quickly disperse the mist so that you could gauge what was going on. Coming to a stop, you feel your heart start to race at the sight of the person before you. "Shit. Of all the people..." Joshua had described him to you earlier and Valerie had given you details afterwards. A red-haired boy, wearing the Akatsuki cloak and controlling a larger puppet in front of him. "Allow me to introduce myself," he says, his voice lightened considerably now. "I am Sasori of the Red Sand. This is my good friend, the Third Kazekage." "Wha...?" That didn't sound pleasant. "He was famous for a certain technique. Can you guess what it was?" Your grip tightens on your beam katana. Sasori smiles madly as the Kazekage puppet opens its mouth, a thick black cloud seeming to emerge from it. "Make your move, Miss Kuiper." --- Reaction a) Charge b) Wait and counter c) Stop and defend --- Jutsu Assist 1. Burning Ash (B-Rank, offensive, variable range) 2. Hidden Mist (D-Rank, supplementary, variable range) a) disperse b) increase 3. Earth Flow River (offensive, close range) 4. other --- Hannah's databook entry, for your consideration. And if anyone's not sure, I'm really back again.
