"Are you gonna be gone long? Why not have breakfast first?"
"Sorry chief, it won't be long, I swear! Maybe I'll pick something up for us on the way back." He sounded a bit rushed, maybe distressed unlike usual.
"Uh, sure. If you're in such a hurry then just go, just remember to be on time for duty.
"I promise! Jeez chief." He was stepping out of the door now, only peeking in, "By the way chief, running around in panties, not very lady-like, you're not a guy you know!"
Exasperatedly sighing you place a hand on your hip and point at the door, "Just get out of here! And I'm serious! Don't forget!"
Walking out completely his sticks his hands in through the door to give one final thumbs up before closing it. Honestly...what a pain...
Eyeing the clock again you take a seat on the couch clad only in a T-shirt, "TV, on", and on your word the television activates, slowly lighting up from its black off screen. Interfacing mentally with the house's entertainment subsystems you flip through the channels as well as change the shading on the windows. Now only partially shaded the windows reveal the world outside, machine gun like rain pouring down, pounding on the window. It looked pretty bad, but luckily this city on water was designed to take storms like this head on, plus there was lockdown too. Older cities didn't fare so well.
Stopping at the weather channel you watch for updates on the storm, it would probably last all day and then a long some. A bad week for the cops...though it would probably be a bad week for crime too.
"Storm expected to be the most severe in the past 6 years"
"Almost a typhoon!"
"Recommended that everyone stay inside"
"May last over a week"
So forth. Looked bad...Maybe you shouldn't have let Deneb go out...Suddenly you notice the Slate giving a remote signal directly to your mind, an impulse for emergency calls only. Flipping through channels once more you pick up the slate from a room away.
"Hello? Who i"
"Good morning Lieutenant!"
"Oh, Chief, good morning!" You answer alertly.
"Hope you're safe right now, anyway lieutenant, I don't think you should come in today, I don't think any of us should go in today."
"Huh? W-why?" The police were never off duty in your 2+ years with them, why now? The storm? "The storm right?"
"Yes, it's going to be a very bad one, not to say it already isn't bad. The only ones going in today are the Special Search and Rescue Teams along with the military rescue teams." Oh, right, the military must have come to check out - wait. The military rescue teams? How much of them showed up? "You should stay home and help us call the rest of the unit."
"Us?"
"Tara and a few others are already calling to make sure the force doesn't come in today."
"Oh I see..."
"By the way, have you heard from Deneb? Tara says she hasn't been able to reach him."
"Uh..." Uh oh, you let the idiot walk out the door just a little while ago, straight into a superstorm. "Yes?" You lie.
"Hmm, alright, is he fine?"
"Uhh, yes, that's what he told me."
"That's great! Stay safe then lieutenant, and please let the others know."
A. "Yes sir" (hang up) B. "Wait (Try to volunteer for the search and rescue teams) --------------------------- 1. Go look for Deneb and bring him along whatever you do 2. Stay home and hope he gets back safely I. Free choice

A1 - Call Deneb first. If he doesn't pick up, then start calling the officers with families first. Then call single officers. Then call Deneb. All the while trying to get to him before he leaves.

"Yes sir!" You promptly respond. Just as you were about to hang up a second thought hits you, "Chief, you're not at the..."
"Oh no, no. I'm staying home as well. It feels a bit weird but at least the girls are happy their dad is home all day." During the last storm the Chief was the only one who went to the office, well, until you decided to tag along after hearing he was working.
"Oh, I didn't know you had daughters sir." You respond, he did seem like a family man. "How old are they?'
"Both just turned nine, they're twins!"
"Oh, how sweet, well I'll get right on it sir, stay safe."
"You too Lt." He hangs up first. Thinking about it he didn't talk much about family life during work, yet he always seemed to have the vibe of a father-type, perhaps it was simply something that you should have picked up.
Walking over to your room you retrieve your slate to personally make the calls, lowering the volume of the TV first. Dial Deneb, you mentally order. In a flat line beep the device waits for the other end to pick up.
"Hel-o, h-lo?" The reception wasn't bad...it was never really that bad, you just couldn't hear his voice over the sound of the storm.
"Deneb?" You ask rhetorically, the slate would hopefully auto-adjust the transmitting volume so you wouldn't have to shout.
"Ch-ef? Wha- -- it?" He was shouting yet the volume wasn't coming out any louder, moron. You sigh away from the device. "What are you doing? You need to come back right away!"
"Wh- was tha-?"
"Come back."
"I can- -ear you!"
Did he just say he could hear you? Oh good, but just to be sure. "Come home." Wait... "I mean! Come back!" You raise your tone in slight surprise.
"Eh? I ----- get it" The line suddenly disconnects much to your chagrin, maybe there was bad reception too...Or maybe his slate got blown away in the wind.
Hopefully he got it, though it didn't seem likely. Slipping your shorts on you make for the door, intent on catching Deneb before he gets far away, all while putting the entire division on queued dial.
"Hello? This is Ka-"
"You're home right?"
"Oh, Lieutenant, yes m'am"
"Good, stay safe, bye!"
"Umm, okay, bye" The next one.
"Creux?"
"Lieutenant? Oh Tara already called."
"Good, bye"
"Bye."
This continued down to the bottom floor where you look around the lobby, obviously he was outside when you called. Making your way to the door you peek outside, hoping to see any semblance of life in the streets. Unfortunately...or in another light, fortunately there wasn't, only the violent rain and water washing through the streets, it seemed like there would be a flood again at this rate.
Suddenly the announcement system sends off a loud alarm in the apartment lobby, "This building will lockdown in 30 minutes, please do not go outside. Death may occur; death is hazardous to your health." Not much to say about that...
There were three stores on this street, a small restaurant, a grocery store, and a general super market. Otherwise it was all apartments which had lobbies connected by somewhat large gates, though above the stores were also all apartments.
On the other hand there was the chance he could also have gone off the street, hopefully not though...
A. Check the restaurant B. Check the grocer C. Check the super market D. Check the adjacent apartments E. Go off the street
For some of them, you get two chances depending on the combination, for some, you only get one chance before lockdown.

Taking another quick look outside you decide to run for the grocery and the super market respectively. The grocery as a smaller shop, being next to a super market probably wasn't good for business but it always seemed that people were shopping there, probably because of the kind familiar faces that ran it. It looked vicious outside, the term raining cats and dogs didn't even apply to this sort of weather, more like a watery hell.
"Open", you command...No response. Must be automatically shut... Forcibly pulling the door apart you step outside, immediately feeling the blow of the hammering wind and rain. It felt like a strong force bearing down on your body; in your defense you put your head down and pull your arms around them to protect yourself. Each dash of rain brought waves and waves of droplets, each one like tiny hammers trying to break down your bare skin.
Quickly dashing to the grocery you put your body up against the window, peering in and pounding. Suddenly the door opens up, an old lady with an apron on holding it open for you to escape in.
"Hello! Have you seen a man in a black helmet, it's in a military style, maybe looks scary?"
The old lady shakes her head. "Fraid not. We're technically closed, never opened dontcha know young whipper snapper!"
"Oh...sorry to be a bother, stay safe!" You open the door and make your way out.
"You too!"
As you sprint down the sidewalk to the market you feel the wind push you, carry you, almost off the ground even. Taking a bad step just outside the door to the super market you slip up and fall on your side, almost sliding on the flooding ground. Luckily the water was a good cushion for your hasty fall. Climbing your knees to stand you pound on the super market door. Waiting for a few moments you begin to think despite the active lights the place was closed. Suddenly a young man in a red clerk's apron opens it, letting you in, now completely drenched.
"Hello, have you seen a man in a black helmet? It's like a military rebreather style" You make circles with your fingers and put them up to your eyes to signify goggles of some sort.
"Pft, haha, what?"
"Like, a black military helmet, looks a bit like a SWAT helmet."
"Oh...uh I don't think so, but you can look around..."
It was a pretty big super market... "Alright, thank you", you reply, walking off into the rest of the store in a stride. Searching each section thoroughly you fail to find him, though you check around the electronics and toys a 2nd time, thinking he might be there for some reason, but no luck.
You exit the place dejectedly, having failed to find him.
"Stay safe miss", the young man calls out as you leave.
"Stay safe", you respond, walking out into the water with a worrisome sigh. It was probably best back home...Given the time you wasted it was probably around time for the lockdown. Standing against the wall of the market you try to make another call on the slate. "Deneb" you order, a pulse, nothing, no connection. "Where could he be?" You mutter. There was just the restaurant left and also the possibility he went elsewhere, hopefully somewhere safe. Maybe if you and he were both inside you could try to make a call at sublevel access, uninterrupted by a storm outside as the connection was routed through the core of the city itself.
A. Continue your search 1. Check the restaurant 2. Go off the street B. Get back to your apartment 1. Check the adjacent apartments 2. Go home and try to make a ground call C. Free choice

That sounded like a good idea, the ground line. Running back to the apartment complex you make it just in time, opening up the doors shortly before the closing announcement goes off. "This apartment complex will undergo lockdown in 1 minute, please stay away from all doors and windows on the first floor." Lockdowns were a safety mechanism to guard against flood, highly resistant carbon shields would cover all vulnerable spots such as the windows and doors. Flooding was much more dangerous than the winds and rain alone, and light debris of course.
Shaking off water you quickly head for the lift. Luckily it was empty much like the well furnished lobby, seemingly everyone was in their rooms for now.
Closing the door behind you, you place the slate on the table next to the entrance and pull off your hairband as you enter the bathroom, grabbing a new heating towel from the closet and stripping off your wet clothes and under garments. At some point you would have to pick up the rest of your wardrobe up from the cleaners. The discount was nice...but...what a terrible time to use the cleaners. Touching the button on the tub, hot water immediately rushes out of the dual faucets. Immediately you make contact with the Slate. Ground line, Deneb, you command mentally. A long flat lining beep, "This is Deneb! May I ask who is-"
"Hey moron" you remark biting, stepping into the tub and settling in, the soft memory padding of the tub adjusting to your slender yet muscular back, slowly wringing your hair out into the hot water. "Where are you? And why are you being so formal?"
"Who...Chief? Oh, I'm at that little restaurant across the street, I'm trying to get this guy to fill an order for us!"
Sighing heavily, you explain in a tired voice, "The apartment went into lockdown...The first floor is blocked off already!", rubbing your shoulders and arms up and down, ready to grab the soap from the stand on the side.
"Oh shi-! Really? Well...I can just climb up to a 2nd floor window right? Can you meet me on the left side of the building?"
"On the left?" You ask, pulling away from the bubbles to rub down your tight muscular abs and from side to front, up and down.
"Yea, facing from across the street. Hey Chief...what are you doing right?"
"N-Nothing! Anyway, that's...my right? Wait, are you sure this is a good idea Deneb?"
"Sure, sure! I'll be over in a little while. Hey guy! Come on! 10 minutes! Yea, yea. Yea, so help me out here Chief!"
"Ugh..." Bathtime was the reprieve you seldom enjoyed... Well at least on a daily basis anyhow.
A. Go to a 2nd floor window and open it up for Deneb to sneak in B. Tell him to wait longer and go downstairs and talk to the manager about undoing lock down to let him in C. Tell him to stay at the restaurant for a little while and see if the storm clears up D. Free choice How many ways can you sneak in?
The hint was that he was going to go order breakfast

"Just wait a while ok? I'm going try to get the apartment manager to open up the doors for a little while."
"Huh? Wait chi-" You promptly hang up on him and pull yourself out of the tub, grabbing a towel and drying off; wringing water out of your hair and pulling it over your shoulders. Going in wet clothes didn't seem too appealing on second thought; you stare at your wet outfit laying on the bathroom still soaking wet. Either way you'd have to go down to the apartment laundry in sublevel 1. Oh! There was that...
With the towel wrapped around you figure you search the drawers in your room, looking for anything to wear. Most of them were mostly empty but wait, this! You pull out a small one-piece swimsuit, one that looked a bit too tight in all the wrong places and a little worn as well. It must have been a few years old now, something you bought when you first arrived on the planet. "It's a bit sexy..." You mutter to yourself, unsure about wearing it. The alternative was lingerie and a towel... Maybe not so revealing in all consideration. Slipping - no, pulling it on to yourself, you find your fears realized. It was tight in the worst places possible you think as you rub your thighs together, trying to fix the wedgie; pulling the neck to loosen the suit's grip around your chest. Grabbing a large white towel, and the slate, and wrapping it around your waist for good measure, you head out and down to the bottom floor.
Stopping at the manager's office you knock on the door to be greeted by a busty woman, maybe in her late 30s, her curly dirty blonde hair draping her shoulders elegantly - she carried the flesh she had sensuously. She was in a tight button shirt and an even tighter black skirt slit on the side, except she probably dressed like that to catch men. "Oh my, oh my. Aren't you quite the pretty little bird", she...compliments... touching her finger to her bright red lips.
"Uhh..." You reel back ever so slightly at her suggestive gaze. Maybe she wasn't the type that caught men... "Can I get some help? I need the lockdown lifted for a few minutes."
"Oh? So you can go swimming out in the streets? Silly girl." She slithers around behind you and feels around your shoulders, tracing them with her hands. "Maybe if you let me go with you."
"Hey watch it!" You curtly warn, pulling away from her to face her. "An...associate of mine is stuck outside. I need you to lift it so he can get in."
"Hmph...Maybe if you let me have some fun first." She crosses her arms, giving you a pout. What the hell...Turning to her office you look in and eye a blue stick on her desk, huh...
A) Grab the thing and get brutal her on arse B) "I'm a police officer biatch!" Authority (no brutality) C) Go along with her suggestion D) Tell her Deneb can give her some money if she lets him in E) Free choice

"Maybe if you let him in first, I'll consider it."
"Hmph, fine." She scoffs, leading you to the doors. Accessing an holopad she seems to open up the safety shutters on the outside.
Getting back on your slate you make a call to Deneb, "Hey...Hey Deneb"
"Yeah?"
"Hurry over."
"Good timing Chief! I was afraid this stuff was gonna get cold." Outside you could see a figure across the large street coming closer and closer, Deneb no doubt.
Next to you the manager speaks up, "So who is this guy?"
"..." You decide to lie, "My boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?!?"
At the moment Deneb pries the doors open and walks in, soaking wet and holding two plastic bags.
"Hey Chief, w-whoa....Who's your friend?"
Quickly eyeing Deneb the manager scrunches up her face, "A guy?"
"I'll do it if it's a threesome", you tease.
"What?!?!" He sounded way too excited...
"Ugh, tell you what sweetie... Come visit me in private sometime", she puts out her finger provocatively, "We'll have some fun then." With that she walks up with a high-strung strut in each step.
"H-Hey wait! I could go for a...threesome", Deneb calls, the last word somewhat dejectedly. "Dykes...pft."
Delivering a powerful slap to the back of Deneb's head you insult his crude attitude, "Dumbass... Honestly, I don't see how you always bring girls to your place."
"H-hahaha, that's a good one chief! Oh! Look at you! Are you dressing up for me?"
Rolling your eyes you palm his helmet again, knocking him back. "I had nothing else to wear." You quickly undo the towel to pull it up to cover your entire torso, just slightly embarrassed. "Let's hurry and head up."
The way up Deneb opens his loud mouth again, chuckling slightly, "I didn't know you swung both ways Chief, I never would have imagined. So you ever had a gi-"
Does he never learn? You quickly elbow his gut, forcing him to shut up with an "omff!"
"No, I don't." You bark.
"Too bad..."
"Whatever", you dismiss, "So what'd you get?"
"Ah, just some stuff." As soon as the lift stops you make it to your apartment, closing the door after Deneb who moves to lay out the meal. It was still pretty early in the morning; outside it was nothing but grey and darkness, the sun blotted out by the dark storm clouds.
The first part was an omelet of some sort of wrap in green, alongside with it were sausages and croissants and spread. "Looks like... a lot" you remark, most of your breakfasts were pretty light in comparison.
"No way! Hey, if you don't finish yours I'll have the rest. Sound good chief?" He asks jokingly, sitting down with his bowl.
"Sure..." You agree, giving him a smirk.
---
After the meal you find yourself decked out on the two seated couch with Ellie in your lap, watching the news report on the current condition in the city. Looks like there was little going on luckily. Deneb was lounging on the single seat on the side of the room by the windows. Needless to say...life without work...was boring. At least when couped inside.
It was getting close to noon now and it was only looking darker and darker. The storm clouds on the planet always seemed to come in several layers, forming low and reaching higher and higher into the already immense atmosphere, probably due to the higher gravity here...
"Hey Chief...mind if I ask you something?" His voice was slow and lazy, not too far from typical.
"Yeah?" You ask alertly.
"Well more like a request, since we're dying of boredom here anyway, I mean you're just wa-"
"Yeah?" You asked annoyed.
"Tell me your life story..."
"Really?" You ask sarcastically.
"Nah, just some stuff about you...Like why'd you come here? Or maybe...why'd you become an officer?"
You let out a sigh.
A. Life story time

"No, I mean...why you joined the military..."
"..." You shoot him a glare, though you could never tell if he was really staring back with that damn helmet on, though he was facing you...
"Come on Chief, we've known each other for three years and you never told me about your past...Not once..."
That was true... "We met...on the bus right?" But maybe a little reminiscing could divert the topic...
"What?"
"Three years ago."
"Y-yeah...But-"
"I remember...you pushed all those people out of their seats just for me."
"Heh...yeah."
"I thought you were some sort of creep or something"

"Hitting on me", you quickly correct.
"Y-yeah...I guess. Well, nevermind chief. I don't want to pry."
"I'll tell you."
"Really!" He got excited over the stupidest things.
"Yea, might as well", you reason. "Just this once, so remember it." Shifting your body you lay on the couch, pulling your knees to your body and holding Ellie tighter as she claws at your t-shirt. "I guess I'll start with my family. My mother...died when I was very young, an illness. But I think...it was of a broken heart."
"..." Respectfully quiet.
"My father...he was always away...He was one of the defecting officers of the Federation."
"That was a long time ago..."
"Yeah, he's a bit old now. But so I am", Only 29, though it hardly seemed young, "Or at least I'm not getting any younger..."
"Hahaha, don't worry Chief, you're as beau-"
"Hey. Don't interrupt. Anyway. My father was Vice Admiral in the Union space forces, Pereux Fleet, and he was just never around", you almost chuckle nervously, trying to stay casual, "After mom died..."
"You joined the Union Space forces", he finishes.
"Yeah. Lieutenant."
"How'd you end up here?"
"Hey, I already tol-"
"You told me you asked to transfer to reserve and move here. We know that's not true." It was strangely shocking to hear him talk so seriously.
"I..." You cuddle with Ellie, cradling her in your arms for a bit. "Yeah...My father transferred me...Because he thought war was going to break out..." A stupid time to care, you bitterly think. "But so far it's just been some border conflicts. Lucky I guess."
Standing up, Deneb says in a foreboding tone, "No...he was right. Chief, I thi-"
Suddenly a thundering roar shakes your entire body, the entire apartment and everything in it. In a fright Ellie screeches. Pulling Ellie away you jump to your feet and rush to the window in a slight panic, looking outside you watch in horror as several buildings collapse off in the distance. The huge skyscrapers fall into each other, like dominos, painfully breaking apart and tumbling to the ground, the giant pillars that they are.
"What the hell!" You shout.
"Chief! We need to go! We nee-" He places a firm grip around your wrist.
But you only pull away to run to your room to grab the magnum and the beam blade from a hidden drawer, pulling on your, now, dry shorts and vest. Rushing back out you go back to Deneb who was already waiting at the door.
"We need to go-"
